We’re back with another Sundays in Bed With… meme! This meme dares to ask you what book has been in your bed this morning and is hosted by Midnight Book Girl. Come share what book you’ve spent your time reading in bed or wish you had time to read today.

I’ll be spending the rest of my Sunday night in bed with The Tropic of Serpents by Marie Brennan. This is the second book in The Memoirs of Lady Trent series and I’m buddy reading it with Charlotte, Veros, and Leslie! 💜 SO excited to be joining their group read because I loved the first book so much and I’m sure I’ll need people to gush to about it as the series goes on, haha. 😂
What book are you spending your Sunday in bed with?

This week felt like it went on forever! Work was a bit more intense with looming deadlines that had me on my toes making sure everything was all in order for the coming Monday. Sadly, there was a close family friend who passed away on Thursday. He was my parent’s friend, his daughter is my sister’s best friend, and he and his wife were also the reason why I chose to go to the UK for my MA. It was a sombre event on Friday, and I guess it just kind of made me think about how I’ve been reflecting on my dad’s worsening condition lately, and about the greater responsibilities that they’ve already started shifting to me. The thoughts have been a lot but I’m okay and I’m trying not to let it all bog me down too heavily. It just is what it is, you know? Life. 🍂

I’ve still not been reading as much as I had hoped to… I really thought at the start of the week that “oh, we’re still in the single digits of October” and now we’re close to mid-month, and yeah, that happened! 🤣 Funny how time works like that, lol.
ICYMI here’s what I posted this week:
- Let’s Talk Bookish: TBR Roulette
- Book Review: Whispers of the Deep by Emma Hamm
- #WWWWednesday: 8 October 2025
- #TopTenTuesday: Satisfying Book Series
- ARC Review: Pitcher Perfect by Tessa Bailey

Thanks, Sam! I’m surprised by all the losses recently—it makes me wonder what on earth is going on!? But… That’s life, I guess? I hope you have a great week ahead as well! 💜

So sorry for your loss Dini. As our parents age, it definitely makes us think about a lot of things. I always feel like I slow down reading in the last 3 months of the year because we get so busy around here with the holidays. I hope you have a good week!

It’s been a weird month with a lot of heavy thoughts, that’s for sure! 😮💨 Hopefully, the rest of this month will be more positive! I didn’t think that I’d slow down so massively with my reads but we’re already halfway through the month and I’ve only finished 3 books! 🫣 I’m shocked, haha. I hope you’ve had a good week so far. Friday’s just around the corner (finally)!

Yes looking forward to the weekend! I’ve slowed down this month too – maybe we just need the break. 😅 Have a good weekend!

It sucks when you start to realize your parents aren’t invincible. I’m sorry for your family’s loss. I hope that this week goes smoother for you.

It really is. Even though you know it and see signs of it almost daily, moments like this can still manage to be quite jarring. Thank you, Pam. I really appreciate that and I do hope that the rest of this month goes better 🙂 I hope you’ve had a great week so far—Friday is just around the corner, woohoo!
