Sundays in Bed With… #MyWeeklyWrapUp [279]

We’re back with another Sundays in Bed With… meme! This meme dares to ask you what book has been in your bed this morning and is hosted by Midnight Book Girl. Come share what book you’ve spent your time reading in bed or wish you had time to read today.

I’m spending the rest of my Sunday night in bed with Eight Hundred Grapes by Laura Dave. I started this last Monday and read a huge chunk in one sitting, after which I didn’t pick it up again for the rest of the week. It’s quite an emotionally angsty read. These characters are messy but it also makes them very human for the choices, actions, etc., that they make.

What book are you spending your Sunday in bed with?

🐣 Happy Easter to all those who celebrate! 🐰 Despite not actually feeling like it was a long weekend (seriously, how is it already Sunday evening?!) it was still nice to get an extra day off since Friday was a national holiday that my office actually follows. I wish we had long weekends every week, haha!

Friends, I can’t say that I was very useful this week as I got sucked into a vortex of gaming that I had a hard time motivating myself to get out of. 😂 I started and finished Death’s Door which is an incredible indie game that I can’t wait to play again (let’s see if I can die less frequently this time, lol)! I had so much fun playing it that I wanted to keep gaming so I started Dave the Diver. I didn’t think it was for me after the first hour or two of playing, but I’m now addicted and can’t stop playing… 🫣 There’s so much to do and it low-key makes me face my fear of the hidden depths of the ocean every time I dive in the water!

In other news, I got myself a new (purple) keyboard and desk mat, as well as an adorable Little Prince x Hirono figure that I’m absolutely obsessed with. Meet The Geographer (this is the one I had my eyes on when I got the blind box so I’m thrilled it was him that I got)!

I completely dropped the ball this week when it comes to engaging because every night I’d come home and immediately log on to my games. I hope the next week will be much better—sorry for being so MIA! 🤭

ICYMI here’s what I posted this week:

silver lining – laufey

I feel like the vibes of this post were a little “down in the dumps”… Sorry about that! I hope everyone’s doing well and treating themselves with care. Have a great week ahead, friends! 💜

  1. The characters are messy in 800 Grapes, but I can still remember how that ending made me feel. It was great. So, everyone gets off Good Friday? My whole company didn’t even have off, just the brokerage side because the stock exchange was closed. The bank side had to go to work.

    • I ended up finishing it last night and I felt pretty emotional. I can’t lie—I shed quite a few tears. I’m glad that there was a happy ending there and I kind of predicted where it was going but oof, the heartache and angst to get there! Family is always messy, huh? I enjoyed it though and I’m glad I finally read it! And yes, everyone gets Good Friday off! I’m sorry to hear that your company didn’t though—I feel like that’s odd because isn’t Easter a national holiday there? Were you included in the bank side?

      • YES! Tears are good. I was off. I am on the brokerage side. The bank gets two holidays that we don’t, and we get Good Friday and a floater so we all have the same number of paid holidays. Easter is not recognized as a federal holiday in the US.

  2. Happy Easter to you as well, Dini. Everyone here in Canada gets Good Friday and many places, especially any government places including schools, gets Easter Monday off as well. I’m glad you enjoyed the game and nothing wrong with switching gears every now and then.

    • Happy Easter, Carla! I hope you had a wonderful day with your loved ones. Indonesia only gets Good Friday but I know my colleagues based in our other offices in Finland & Uganda have Monday off too! My office tends to have minimal days off as we follow our own fixed days, but this is a massive global ‘celebration’ so I’m glad we got it. I hope you have a wonderful week ahead!

  3. Thanks! Our Easter was busy and fun. Traveling to my parents is only 2 hours, but such a trip with two kids! haha. We were exhausted when we got home last night. The boys had so much fun though. I wish the work week was only 4 weeks, every week. It was so nice not having school today. Although, he wouldn’t have been able to go since he’s sick, but ya know. I hope you have a lovely week, my friend! ❤
