We’re back with another Sundays in Bed With… meme! This meme dares to ask you what book has been in your bed this morning and is hosted by Midnight Book Girl. Come share what book you’ve spent your time reading in bed or wish you had time to read today.

I’m spending the rest of my Sunday night in bed with one of my current reads: One by One by Ruth Ware or The Duke Identity by Grace Callaway. It might be the latter cos I think I can finish it quickly but let’s see!
What book are you spending your Sunday in bed with?

Well, as I’m writing this I’m already back in Indonesia and low-key, it kind of sucks! 😂 As is typical post-travel these days, I’ve found myself mildly ill although it could’ve been a lot worse had we not gotten our vaccinations pre-departure. Thankfully, my throat isn’t sore, but I have a phlegmy cough and sound more ill than I actually feel. I am not keen to get back to work tomorrow, but alas, reality intrudes once more. This Japan trip was amazing, if not also trying for the family to spend so many days together, haha. 🤣 I think we’ve had enough of seeing each other until at least June, which is when we’ll get together in Bali for our grandma’s 94th birthday! Despite not doing many touristy things (I still haven’t been to the major tourist spots in Tokyo, lol), I feel like I really settled into living in Japan during this trip, and it was much harder to leave this time around. I hope it won’t be too long until my next trip back.
For our last week, we left Tokyo (about a 4-hr bus ride or 1-hr Shinkansen + 1-hr local bus) for this quaint town called Kusatsu to celebrate dad’s 71st birthday. It’s a popular onsen town and was absolutely gorgeous! It started snowing the second day we were there and more heavily when we left. ❄️ The temperature drop was wild, but I think I was made for cold weather cos my internal temperature runs hot, so I was actually quite cosy in my fluffy jacket. I’m ngl, leaving the cool 9°C (48.5°F) temps to return to 30°C (86°F) humid heat has been brutal!!! 🫠 Bring me back to the cold, please!

I’ve still not been reading a whole lot, although I’m actually picking up books now! I’m also trying very slowly to catch up with all that I’ve missed on the blogosphere. It’s only been two days and I feel like I’m continuously falling behind, but baby steps and all that! I’ll get around to responding to comments and blog-hopping again soon, I swear. ✨

Ooo thanks for sharing some of your travel photos! Makes me really want to go back to Japan. My husband and I have been watching Japan travel videos on YouTube a lot lately, haha. Glad you had fun!

Ooh, I wouldn’t be able to resist booking another trip immediately if I let myself watch Japan videos. The urge to go back right now is strong enough as it is when I look back at my photos! 😂 I love Japan. 💜

Your trip looks like it was amazing, so I am glad to hear your experience matches the pictures. Sorry you are under the weather, and I hope it passes quickly. Yeah, reality bites. It’s always hard going back to work after a long break too.

Oh, it really was so amazing, Sam. Reality bites so hard and it’s been a struggle getting back into work this whole week. Although I will say that work has not eased me back into things—I’ve been thrown into the deep, deep end! 😆 I just have to look forward to whenever I plan my next trip back!

What great photos, Dini. I’m glad you had a good time and got to spend time with your family, but I’m so sorry you aren’t feeling well. I hope you recover soon. Too bad holidays always go by so fast. Take care of yourself.

Thanks, Carla! Being there in person was even more stunning 😍 It is too bad holidays always go by so quickly. As the say, time flies when you’re having fun, right? I wish it would fly more when we’re stressed and/or bored too, haha. I’m feeling much better now although the cough is taking its sweet time working itself out. I’m looking forward to the weekend around the corner though! Hope you’re doing well 🙂

How do you like one by one?

Thank you! One by One was just and okay read for me. I felt that although the twists were fun, I don’t think they were as impactful as they probably should’ve been because of the lack of tension! I don’t know if I’m in the minority with my feelings though cos my reading mood has been weird lately. 🫣

Ah! I remember loving the twist and especially the moment she got out of the cabin

Gorgeous town! I’ll have to note it down for whenever we go back to Japan.

Yes! It’s a lovely little onsen town and perfect if you come visit over the winter or spring period, especially when you get into the steaming hot public baths! The buildings were so charming and quaint—very traditional although they did have some more modern structures too. Would highly recommend going! 😃
