We’re back with another Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is New-to-Me Authors I Discovered in 2024.
I’m excited to say that 2024 introduced me to many new-to-me authors, some of whom quickly became new favourites! Some of them have been on my TBR for years (and years) while others were newer to me but all I know is that I’m excited to further explore their backlists and new releases in the coming years. 😍 Let’s check them out! Note: the covers correspond the (first) book I read by these authors last year.

Beverly Jenkins
Rebecca Ross
Emily St. John Mandel
Abby Jimenez
Caleb Azumah Nelson

Traci Chee
Grace Callaway
Alexandra Rowland
Tigest Girma
Zen Cho
Honourary Mentions

Were any of these authors also new to you in 2024 or do you still plan to try them? Who were some of the new-to-you authors that you read last year? Did any of them become new favourites?

New to me authors in 2024 were
Janie Crouch
Kate Quinn
Rachel Grant
Anki Edvinsson
Kate Mosse
Tess Gerittson
Laura Griffin
Lilja Sigurðardóttir

I’ve only read a novella by Kate Quinn but I am keen to read one of her full-length novels. I hope you discover many more amazing new authors in the year ahead 🙂

Everina Maxwell would be a new one for me too actually! I really can’t believe how long I let Winter’s Orbit sit on my shelf! 🙈

I’ve only read books by two of these authors before. The Rebecca Ross book I read I had mixed feelings over but Divine Rivals is a must read for me this year. And I loved Black Water Sister. I still need to try out more of the authors books though.
I have four Traci Chee books and need to read them all 🙈 I’m determined to get to them this year. Immortal Dark really caught my eye last year too and I’ll have to try and get it read before the sequel comes out.
I have books by some of the others on my TBR too. I’m glad you found so many wonderful new authors in 2024; hopefully 2025 will bring even more your way.

I’m keen to check out more by Rebecca Ross but I haven’t heard as much about her earlier books compared to her Divine Rivals series. I hope you enjoy it though! 😃 It was one of my favourite reads last year. I also can’t wait to read more by Zen Cho! Black Water Sister was such a surprise to me—I was worried it would be way out of my comfort zone but I’m so glad it wasn’t, lol.
I need to add Traci Chee’s other books to my TBR! I’m very excited to see how she writes contemporary but this fantasy was a winner for me. I would also highly recommend Immortal Dark! I had mixed feelings about it at first because it’s a very slow build but it was so worth it by the end. I can’t wait for the sequel 😍
I hope you enjoy the other titles and authors that are on your TBR. Happy reading!

Thank you. I’m looking forward to it. I hope you enjoy whatever you pick up next by her. I’m glad it surprised you in the end then. What book do you think you’ll pick up next by her? I read Black Water Sister a few years back now so it’s kind of ridiculous that I haven’t tried anything else yet 🙈
I think I’ve heard good things about one of her contenporary ones 🤔 I’ve got other fantasy books by her to start with though 😂 Ooh thanks for the heads up about the slow start. I’ve got the ebook and am definitely hoping to check it out before the sequel releases. I hope you end up enjoying it 🥰
Thank you, you too ❤️

I’m also terrible at choosing so to make life easier for myself, I thought I’d just add them all! Haha which book by Ross did you read? Was it her Divine Rivals book? I can’t wait to read more by her too!

I am surprised you didn’t read Jimenez before last year. I always think of her being quite popular.
LikeLiked by 1 person
I don’t exaggerate when I say that her books have been on my TBR for ages. I hope I will pick up more of her books this year although I’m honestly not quite sure why I haven’t just yet. 🤣 Maybe it’s the hype around her books that scares me (same can be said about Emily Henry’s books)!
LikeLiked by 1 person
I think Jimenez’s books are more consist than Henry’s. EmHen’s adult books were all great for me, but they varied in being romance or women’s fiction for me. Jimenez is always romance with warmth and humor and a side of tears. Though, they are getting less brutal.

Oh, glad to hear that they’re getting less brutal! 😆 That’s always good to hear, haha. I have heard that about EH’s books (some being more women’s fic than strictly ‘romance’). I’m keen to see what I’ll think of them when I finally pick one up!

I discovered Abby Jimenez the same way. I loved that story but didn’t read any more from her last year. I’ll have to remedy that this year.

Same! I don’t know why I haven’t read more of her books to be honest, especially since I loved that novella and I have almost all of her books on my TBR already. I hope to remedy that this year too. I hope we both enjoy more of her books! ☺️
