Sundays in Bed With… #MyWeeklyWrapUp [243]

We’re back with another Sundays in Bed With… meme! This meme dares to ask you what book has been in your bed this morning and is hosted by Midnight Book Girl. Come share what book you’ve spent your time reading in bed or wish you had time to read today!

I’m spending Sunday night in bed with The Girl With No Reflection. I’m excited about starting this tonight! I think it’s a standalone and if I’m not mistaken, it’s also the author’s debut. It has an intriguing premise and I hope it’ll be as good as it sounds! 😃

📖 SYNOPSIS

A young woman chosen as the crown prince’s bride must travel to the royal palace to meet her new husband—but her world is shaken when she discovers the dark truth the royal family has been hiding for centuries—in this lush fantasy debut perfect for fans of Song of Silver, Flame Like Night and Violet Made of Thorns.

Princess Ying Yue believed in love…once upon a time.

Yet when she’s chosen to wed the crown prince, Ying’s dreams of a fairy tale marriage quickly fall apart. Her husband-to-be is cold and indifferent, confining Ying to her room for reasons he won’t explain. Worse still are the rumors that swirl around the imperial whispers of seven other royal brides who, after their own weddings, mysteriously disappeared.

Left alone with only her own reflection for company, Ying begins to see things. Strange things. Movements in the corners of her mirror. Colorful lights upon its surface. And when, on the eve of her wedding, she unwittingly tears open a gateway, she is pulled into a mirror world.

This realm is full of sentient reflections, including the enigmatic Mirror Prince. Unlike his real-world counterpart, the Mirror Prince is kind and compassionate, and before long Ying falls in love—the kind of love she always dreamed of.

But there is darkness in this new world, too.

It turns out the two worlds have a long and blood-soaked history, and Ying has a part to play in the future of them both. And the brides who came before Ying? By the time they discovered what their role was, it was already too late.

What book are you spending your Sunday in bed with?

It’s been a busy week but it ended on a dull note as the internet at the office decided to keep disconnecting for hours-long periods on Friday. It made for an early start to the weekend but it was also a terribly boring work day! 😂 I’ve been playing a lot of ACNH in my downtime and not much else, tbh. I restarted my island and I forgot how difficult it can be to find items and earn bells at the start but I’m still determined to do this no terraforming island! Tom Nook, the crook, is taking all my bells at an alarming rate though.

That said, my first campsite villager was Raymond, my fave non-Lazy guy, and since then I’ve also found Felicity and Ketchup on Nook Mile islands. They’re so adorable and I had to invite them to my island but it does mean my villagers are 90% peppy! Sadly, Pinky (a pink panda villager!) has just asked to leave and I misclicked and said yes instead of no. Boo 😒

I’ve been trying to get back into the groove of things with middling results. I had two days last week where I felt energized post-office hours to get some blog hopping done and that was great. Unfortunately, the streak did not continue for the rest of the week! 😂

ICYMI here’s what I posted this week:

never be yours – kali uchis

I really hope you’re all doing okay and treating yourself with care. Let’s have a great week ahead! 💜

    • They’re so cute and there are so many of them! I also totally agree it’s almost as bad as being in a town hall. I wish that the bosses had let us go WFH cos then we would’ve at least got some work done! 🤣 I hope you have a great week ahead, Sam!

  1. I’ve only ever played the Animal Crossing app game a while ago so I’m not very well versed in that world but I’m sorry your pink villager left that sounds sad 😥!

Also, I hope the book you started is a good one!

    • Ooh, do you mean Pocket Camp? I enjoyed that for a while and then stopped playing for some reason, lol. I’m sad to say that my first impression of the book has not been… Great? I don’t know, maybe it’s cos I’m distracted and not fully into it while reading but the naïveté of this FMC is… Something 😂 I think I’m going to put it “on hold” until the weekend before giving it another go!

      • Hahah I must mean Pocket Camp but I forgot that’s what it was called lol. I enjoyed it too but I felt it got a bit too repetitive which is why I stopped.

Aw I’m sorry to hear that but I’ve heard less than stellar reviews of it too so I hope that it turns it around for you! haha maybe a nice mental break is a good idea 🙂
