#TopTenTuesday: Unread Books on My Shelves I Want to Read Soon

We’re back with another Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is actually Unread Books on My Shelves I Want to Read Soon (Bonus points if you tell us how long it’s been sitting on your shelf waiting for you.)

I know I’m not the only bibliophile who has a massive number of unread books sitting on our physical and digital shelves patiently waiting to be read. Since I fell into the book community close to 8 years ago, my shelves have grown faster than I can read these books and the number continues to grow with each year. One of my goals for the past few years is to make my way through these teetering stacks of backlist books and I think I’ve been making decent progress this year. While I can’t recall just how long ago these books were added to my shelves, I do know that the majority of them have been there for at least 5-6 years! 🫣 Here are 10 that I’m hoping going to read this year.

From my physical shelf…

The Invisible Life of Addie La Rue
The Cheerleaders
Sometimes I Lie
All the Stars and Teeth
Bone Crier’s Moon

From my digital shelf…

Age of Myth
The Wise Man’s Fear
My Lovely Wife
Almost Love
Storm of Locusts

Do you have a lot of unread books on your shelves? Have you read any of these or are they also on your TBR?

    • According to the series page on Goodreads, Roanhorse’ series is going to be postponed indefinitely. I’m so bummed cos I’m keen to read book two next month but I’ll be so sad if it’s a cliffhanger ending 😂 And yeah, Rothfuss’ book… I think we’ll all be old and grey or even expired before he comes out with the third book. At least, that’s what it’s feeling like now haha

  1. My TBR shelf is too big to even think about. I have read My Lovely Wife and Sometimes I Lie and enjoyed both of them. I hope you get to read all of these and enjoy them, Dini.

    • I have heard so many amazing things about Addie but also a few mixed thoughts in there. I do love Schwab though and thoroughly enjoy her writing so I’m hoping this’ll go on my faves list with the rest of her books! 😍

    • Ah, sorry to hear that. I’ve heard mostly positive but some mixed things about it. I did hear that it was a slow mover though so I won’t expect anything fast paced when I go into it. Hopefully that helps 😂 Thank yoU!

  2. I’ve heard excellent things about Age of Fear (well that series). I want to read the Rothfuss books but I won’t unless the third one is ever published, lol. Although given I struggle finishing series, I’m not sure why I’m bothering to put that caveat on it!

    • I think I’m going to need to re-read Name of the Wind before reading Wise Man’s Fear but I do remember loving it. Kinda worried it’ll be one of those “nostalgia’s a mind trick” moments but fingers crossed it’ll still be just as good as I remember it 😂 I’ve honestly been holding out until we get news of the final book but yeah, it doesn’t seem like that’s coming anytime soon!

    • Ah, I love to hear it! I’m so excited to be reading Storm of Locusts next month. I’m really bummed that this series indefinitely postponed because it’s so good… It’ll be such a shame if we never get a finished series 😭

  3. Addie LaRue is so amazing!! I read Bone Crier’s War and thought it was just okay, but I can’t get rid of my box sub edition. It’s just too pretty lol. I hope you get to some of these soon!!

  4. I’ve read The Cheerleaders and I *think* I enjoyed it? (Sorry, my brain is mush!) So I hope you enjoy it too. I’ve heard mixed things about Addie LaRue and at this point, I don’t think it’s for me! Excited to hear your thoughts if you ever get around to reading it, though. 🙂

    • The Cheerleaders is a book I honestly haven’t heard much about but I found a second hand copy when I was traveling in Cambodia and it looked great so I scooped it up! 😂 I’ve seen some mixed things for Addie but mostly positive. I’m personally a huge fan of this author’s work so I’m hoping this’ll be one I add to my faves list. Fingers crossed! 🤞🏽

  5. I haven’t read any of these either, but someday I want to read a V.E. Schwab book. 🙂 I’ve also been determined to read more off my existing shelves. I’m doing okay, but I would do better if I could stop requesting ARCs. Haha!
