If you didn’t know, I’m a pretty big Taylor Swift fan. If you’ve been around this blog long enough you might’ve seen me gushing about her music a time or two (or more, cough). But there’s just something about her songs that resonates so much with me. Maybe it’s my hopeless romantic melancholy baby energy but so many of her songs hit and they hit hard! For many years running she has been my #1 artist on Spotify Wrapped and I don’t know if that’ll change anytime soon, lol.
Now with that intro out of the way, I got so excited when Leslie @Books Are the New Black tagged me to do the Reputation Book Tag! This isn’t my #1 era but I still hope that Taylor will bless our ears soon with her version so I can finally listen to these songs again (no, I’m not streaming to give money to that 🛴 man). Before I digress any further, let’s just slide straight to it!
This tag was originally created by Mollie @Mollie the Reader.

Ready For It: A book that you are sooo ready to read and need to read it ASAP

Do Me A Favor
I was so blessed to be able to get an ARC of this romance. This author’s previous romance was one of my top reads of 2023 so I’m excited to get more by her.
End Game: A book where your ship became endgame?
I struggled real hard with this one and ultimately decided to just leave it blank. The thing is I read books w/o complicated relationships so they’re always endgame (otherwise, it’s not a romance!). Plus, many of the longer series where I do have “endgame ships” are ones I haven’t finished reading yet so I don’t know if they’re really endgame! 😂
I Did Something Bad: A character that did something bad but had no regrets?

Maggie from Trail of Lightning
Mags might be one of the toughest FMCs I’ve ever read. She’s incredibly flawed but she has also had to survive in this post-apocalyptic world as a pawn of the Gods. She does what she needs to do though and she doesn’t have regrets, no matter how awful the deed!
Don’t Blame Me: A book that a lot of people don’t like but you can’t help but secretly love?

Assistant to the Villain
I wouldn’t say I “secretly love” this book but I did have such a fun time with it! I can see why people wouldn’t like it but I had a great time with it and I know a lot of others who didn’t!
Delicate: A character that you find to be very delicate?

Amelie from The Places I’ve Cried in Public
This book was heartbreaking! Amelie plays our naive lead who’s dealing with a traumatic experience and she has such a delicate countenance in telling her story. She’s delicate but also ultimately finds strength in herself.
Look What You Made Me Do: An author whose books ALWAYS make you cry or feel deep emotions?

Chloe Liese
I didn’t get through one book in the Bergman Brothers series without getting super emotional and shedding tears. 😂 There’s something
So It Goes…: A book series that goes from a good start to a bad/meh ending?

The Poppy War Series
Most of the answers I can think of are duologies but the one series that I thought of specifically was this series. I’ll just say that The Burning God… Not nearly as strong as the rest of the book. It wasn’t a “bad” ending but it was quite anticlimactic, IMHO.
Gorgeous: A book you bought because of the cover?

The Surface Breaks
I feel like this image doesn’t accurately capture the beauty of this cover cos IRL it’s even more stunning! It wasn’t a terrible read but I was underwhelmed by the ending.
Getaway Car: Do you read books in the car/public transport?
I do! I mostly read on public transport (the train) because sometimes when I read in the car/bus I get carsick, lol. But I used to love listening to audiobooks while driving (when I lived somewhere I drove everywhere)!
King of My Heart: A fictional character that owns your heart?

The Kaul Family – The Green Bone Saga
I’m cheating a bit here but I can’t pick one. I’m going with a whole family—the Kaul family! I have nothing more to say other than this whole family has my heart. I freaking love them so much!
Dancing With Our Hands Tied: A book that had you tied in from the first sentence?

Bend Toward the Sun
This book reeled me in from the go and I finished it one day! It was so deeply romantic, swoontastic and tender. 😍
Dress: A character who has a similar sense of fashion to you?

Maggie from Role Playing
I’m all about sweats, shorts, cosy oversized clothing and the only character I can really think of with a similar style is Maggie. She’s a grumpy homebody and I mean, kinda same. 😂
This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things: A shady character that you dislike?

The King & Queen of Ryden from Fate of Eyrinthia
To be fair, I pretty much despise the whole nasty Kaelin family. They’re so abusive and toxic, it’s hard to believe that Grayson was raised in the same family as the others.
Call It What You Want: If you had to call one fictional character to humanity who would you choose and why?

Kitay from The Poppy War
This was really tough but in the end, I went for Kitay because I loved him in this series. I would love to see how he would react in a modern-day setting! 😂
New Year’s Day: A book you can’t wait to read in the new year?

A Witch’s Guide to Magical Innkeeping
We’ve still got a ways to go until a new year but this is releasing closer towards the end of 2024 (September) and knowing me, I probably won’t get around to reading it until 2025! 😂

And that’s it for the Reputation Book Tag! That was hard… But fun! 😃 I won’t be tagging anyone but if you’re keen to do it, I’d love to see your answers! 😍

I really need to read the Yardley books I own.

I need to read more of her books too, that’s for sure. I’m so excited that I got an ARC of her upcoming release and I can’t wait to read it. I have a feeling it’s gonna pull on some heart strings!

Fun post Dini! Have you listened to TTPD yet? Honestly the Matty Healy/Taylor Swift reveals and lore has been better than books for me this weekend! What a story for my hopeless romantic heart. 😆 And I’m ready for Rep too – I think 1989 and Rep are one of my favorites because it’s upbeat. But then again I’m a Folklore/Evermore girlie as well. Just depends on my mood I guess.

I’ve been obsessed with the first half of TTPD, Yolanda! I can’t stop listening to it 😂 I’m so curious to see if someone will come up with a TTPD tag. I would be so intimidated but I’d love to have one, haha. I can’t wait for Rep TV! It wasn’t my favourite era, if I remember correctly, but I do love lots of songs on there and it’s been sooo long since I’ve listened to them. Ah, TS is just so good 💜 She gets all my moods and vibes and there’s an era for each one, it seems, haha!

It’s so addictive! I thought it was too slow at first because I was waiting for her usual bangers – I dunno why I expected that when it’s called Tortured Poets Department lol but it definitely grew on me after few listens and now I’m addicted of course. Glad you are loving it! I agree if there is a TTPD tag, I’d be intimidated, I was trying to see if I could even do this Reputation tag and I’m still thinking on what books I think would fit.

Nothing beats a Taylor Swift book tag! It was so fun to read your picks for Rep songs. I can’t wait to see what comes out for a TTPD tag.

They’re so much fun but also always *so* very long 😂 I’d be so keen to see someone make a TTPD tag but it’d defo have to be in two parts 😂

I would read two parts of that tag!

Thanks, Carla! It was a struggle to find answers (as it is for most tags but this one in particular was a toughie) and it did take forever to do but I do love a good tag 🙂

Yay!! Great answers, Dini! Assistant to the Villain is a book I got off Book Outlet last month and I’m glad to see it on that prompt. I’ve seen a lot of mixed reviews but it sounds so good!

Ooh, I hope you enjoy it, Leslie! I think it’s just a fun silly old time and if you don’t take it or the writing too seriously it could be an enjoyable read. Keen to see what you think 🙂 Happy reading!

Ohh, okay! That actually sounds great… I love when I don’t have to take a book seriously!! I hope I can make time for it soon!
