So you know how I said that I don’t do reading challenges? Well, apparently 2024 is the year where I’m trying to shake up my reading life a little and I’ve decided to partake in a couple of them! I came across the Buzzword Reading Challenge when Kayla @BooksandLala popped up on my FYP on YouTube and it looks like it could be a fun time! You can watch her video introducing it below:

Here are the two cute reading challenge templates that Kayla made for this challenge but I’m not quite sure which one I want to use yet so I’ve saved both!

Now let’s get down to business and highlight a couple of books that I’m thinking of reading for each month’s prompt.
JANUARY
There / Their / They’re
I was surprised by how difficult it was to find these words on titles in my digital and physical lists of books that number well into the high hundreds! I ended up with only these three options (ok, there was one more option but I’m saving that book for later in the year so it was out for this). I need to get cracking on whatever I pick but if you have any suggestions, I’d love to hear them! 😍

Are you also joining the challenge or does it sound like something you want to try, too? If you have recs for any of the prompts, I’d love to consider them! 😍

DINI THIS SOUNDS LIKE SO MUCH FUN I HOPE YOU HAVE THE BEST TIME EVER!!! i can honestly confirm that vera wong is hilarious perfection AND YOU’RE GOING TO LOVE IT. (SERIOUSLY OKAY. I’ve been doing this challenge for the past few years. I treat it as a yearly challenge and will count a book for any of the prompts no matter what month I read them in. Good luck Dini!!

Y’know, I think that’s a grand idea! 😂 I think if I end up struggling with a particular month, I’m going to do pick a book I read from an earlier month or from a future month and mark it off anyway. Definitely takes the pressure off! Are you participating in it this year too? If you are, good luck to you as well, Misty! 😍

Yes I am participating this year as well I am just behind on posts at the moment. I have so many end/beginning of the year posts that I always end up behind.

I am cutting back on year long challenges, so I am only doing the Keyword challenge this year, but these are great prompts. Good luck with it! I like all the templates they made too

Ooh, what’s the Keyword challenge? It sounds like it might be similar in premise? Thanks, Sam! Good luck with your challenge as well 😍

The Keyword Challenge has been around a long while. It was hosted by Girl XOXO who moved to Chapter Adventure. Each month, there are several words. I only try to read one book with one of the words, but I think you can be an over achiever and read one book for each word.

I like this challenge! Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I also don’t usually do challenges but did a couple last year and really enjoyed them. This one sounds like a winner for me to add to my challenges this year. I also really like your book choices for each month.

wow this looks amazing. I don’t know if I’ll be able to do this challenge because I don’t know if I’ll find enough SFF books with the words, but I would love to give a try for atleast a few months 😊😊

I think that’s a great idea! Who knows, maybe after testing out a couple of months this year, you’ll enjoy it so much you’ll try again next year. 😍 Good luck if you go for it, Sahi!

I love holiday books, but it’s often to hard to see through all the Christmas books to other holidays. I had never heard of A Holly Jolly Diwali but know I want to read that one. My neighborhood has a very big Bengali population and I love seeing their clothing and lights when Diwali is celebrated.

I did Kayla’s challenge last year and enjoyed it. I took the list of prompts when she posted her video and hit my bookshelf. Surprisingly, I only have four of the twelve prompts covered. I hope you enjoy the challenge!
