#WWWWednesday: 13 December 2023

Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

It seems to be a trend these past few Wednesdays for me to miss out on these #WWW posts (even though I love and miss doing them but life)! Since I missed last week’s as well, here’s what I read since then: I finished 7 books. I haven’t had a great start to my December reads, ngl. 😭

The Mistletoe Bet (Strawberry Hollow #1) by Maren Moore ★★★★☆
This was my first book by this author but I loved it. The writing, the characters, the maturity in the romance, the incendiary chemistry and sexual tension, and the slow burn! All of it worked so well for me and I can’t wait for more in this series (soon, please)! 😍

The Spanish Love Deception (Spanish Love Deception #1) by Elena Armas ★★½
Friends, no one is more disappointed than me. I don’t understand the popularity of this book but clearly, I’m in the minority. 🙃 It just… Didn’t work for me and I almost DNF’d it. The ending was better but it took too long to get better!

Dante & Joey (Chicago Ruthless #1 & #2) by Sadie Kincaid
I don’t know how I came across Dante first but it was while I was browsing the bird app. This is 20% plot and the rest is just pure smut. I skimmed through most of Dante and picked up Joey because I liked her character. Sadly, it was worse. Eh! 🤷🏻‍♀️

Shades of Magic Vol. 1: The Steel Prince by V.E. Schwab ★★★★☆
I loved this graphic novel that expands the world from one of my favourite series! It’s so interesting to see this darker side of Red London and the kick-ass side of Maxim Maresh. Plus, I loved learning about Isra, who’s another character in the Shades of Magic series. So fun! ✨

Trade Me (Cyclone #1) by Courtney Milan ★★★½
This started off strong and I was sure it’d be a new 5-star read for me. The latter half ended up being less good but I enjoyed it enough to want to continue the series. Milan’s writing is so easy to read and I loved how she tackles real and important issues. Blake and Tina were great!

The Office Guest (Holiday Homecoming #2) by Whitney G. ★★☆☆☆
Eh, no. This wasn’t for me. It was a hot mess and I was so confused by the way it was written. The FMC was horribly immature and the MMC had zero personality. It’s too bad cos I was looking forward to it! 😣

During one of my breaks while working from home today I decided to pick up a physical book cos it’s been a while. I started The Marriage Game and I’m enjoying it so far (@14%). My December reads have been kinda mid so far so I’m hoping this changes that!

Who knows what the mood will dictate! 🤷🏻‍♀️

What are you currently reading? Have you read any of these books or are they also on your TBR? Happy reading, friends!

    • Oh gosh, you were spot on with DNFing it. Honestly, sometimes I think I do so well with DNFing and then things like this happen when I push myself to finish a book I’m really not enjoying and mostly for trying to understand the hype! 😂 I need to read book two but I hope you enjoy The Mistletoe Bet! It was super cute and fun 😍

  1. I hear you!! I realize when I’m starting to drift off to sleep! The days are just going too fast. I’m trying to hang in there though and post somewhat regularly!! I’m sorry many of yours weren’t the best though. Glad we got in a buddy read though!! ❤

    • They are going *SO* fast, Leslie! I’ve been doing semi-decent with posting but so little engagement. I miss the community and talking to others so much—like with you!!! I’m glad we’ll kick up buddy reading again at some point 🙂 I can’t wait!
