Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:
- What did you read last?
- What are you currently reading?
- What will you read next?

Since last week I managed to finish reading five books. This week’s books were a bit of a mixed bag but I did have one 5-star read so YAY!

Cry Wolf (Alpha & Omega #1) by Patricia Briggs ★★★☆☆
My first foray into the Mercy Thompson world and sadly, I didn’t love it like I thought I would. Maybe I need to read other books first (it defo would’ve helped to know there was a novella before this!) but while it didn’t really wow me, it has made me curious enough to want to pick up the other MT books asap!
The Dragon Republic (The Poppy War #2) by R.F. Kuang ★★★★★
WRECKED. SHE WRECKED ME. Ugh. All of us in the group read were pretty devastated by this book. Kuang does not hold back. So much happens and almost all of it was heartbreaking? 😂 I can’t wait to see what happens in the conclusion—my heart is already in my throat thinking about it!
Frozen Flowers Fallen by Sarah Westill ★★★☆☆
Ultimately, this book wasn’t for me. While I enjoyed aspects of the world-building, there was too much suspension of disbelief required for me to really enjoy and feel fully immersed in the story! I can see many others enjoying it more though!
The Ashes and the Star-Cursed King (The Nightborn Duet #2) by Carissa Broadbent ★★★★☆
I still don’t believe these books needed to be this long but overall, a satisfying conclusion to the duet. We got closure, clarity, and a HEA, but this is just the beginning in this dark vampire world and I can’t wait for more!
Tangled Expectations by Sophie Andrews ★★★☆☆
This was too instalove for me to really buy into it and I had a hard time connecting with the characters… But I actually enjoyed the surprise pregnancy trope here and there were some really sweet moments between Wes and Maggie!

Don’t Go Baking My Heart
44% → This MMC is making me a little frustrated cos while I’m all here for the grumps, his stick is shoved so far up his butt, and I’m having a hard time fathoming his change. BUT Reba, our FMC, is making every second of teasing and enduring said grump so much fun. She’s amazing! 😍

The magic of ✨mood reading✨ means it could be any of these.

What’re you currently reading? Have you read any of these books or are they also on your TBR? Happy reading, friends! 😍

A nice mix of books, Dini. A grump is okay to a point, hopefully that stick will be removed soon.

Thanks, Carla. I totally agree—grumps are okay to a point and I’m hoping that his attitude change will be worth the wait!

I think that’s a pretty great reading week! I’m so glad that you enjoyed the Nightborn Duet! Now, I really want to read them!! haha. I can’t wait for our next buddy read tomorrow. I hope we enjoy it. Have a great week, Dini! ❤

They were fun although they definitely felt their length at times. Usually, I can speed through those romantasy books really quickly but this one slowed me down a bit, though that’s not *really* a bad thing, lol 😂 I hope you enjoy it and you can DM me if you pick it up and wanna chat! I’m about to start our buddy read (one day late, sorry!) but I hope we both love it, too. I actually forgot what it’s about but I’m just gonna dive in without a refresher. Hope you’re having a good week so far, Leslie 💜

I am only 3 chapters into our read (I know 😦 ) but it’s already so interesting! I think we will like it! I have no clue what it’s about either. It’s been on my shelf for far too long. haha. I actually kind of prefer going into books like that these days. I hope we both have better weeks next week!! ❤

I was hoping you liked Tangled Expectations more. I downloaded that one. But sometimes I don’t mind instant love, so maybe it won’t bug me as much. Happy reading! (And hurry up and read Liese’s book!!!)

Legit don’t know why I still haven’t read Liese’ book. I think I’m scared to pick it up with my mood being kinda restless! But a read is coming, I know! Also, I hope you love Tangled Expectations! It just didn’t full click for me and I’m bummed about it but we can’t love ’em all. Happy reading 💜

You made me crack up with your observation of the MMC in your current read. Let’s hope the heroine can loosen him up a big.

Haha, he’s really taking grump to the next level, Sam. I’m really hoping that his capitulation into soft-hearted cinnamon roll when it comes to our FMC is going to be worth the wait! 😂 And I absolutely adore the FMC!

What a great reading week. I have the Mercy Thompson series on my TBR but I didn’t realize there was a novella before the first book. I’ll have to look into that!

This is set in the same MT world but it’s a different series to the MT one. But her name is already mentioned in this book and I’m not sure what the timeline is compared to that series. But if you do decide to pick this one up specifically, definitely read the novella first 😂 Happy reading!

The cover for your current read is gorgeous! I hope you enjoy it!

Thanks! I bought it mostly because of the cover 😂 I’m enjoying it so far but the MMC is driving me BONKERS! The guy takes “grump” to a whole new level but the FMC is taking “sunshine” to the next level in the BEST way as well and I love her. She’s making this read amazing 😂

Totally agree on the Broadbent books. They are over-long, but I really do like the characters involved. I can’t wait to read the next entry into the series. I think/hope it’ll be about Mische?

The ending for The Dragon Republic was… heartbreaking. One of the worst hangover I ever experienced, thank God I could’ve binged the next book immediately instead of waiting for its release!
