New Year’s Book Tag!

Hello, friends! I hope you’re all doing okay and taking care of yourselves. 💜 I’m back with the first tag of 2023 and it’s fittingly the New Year’s Book Tag! It’s only mid-January so it’s definitely still okay to do this tag, right? 😜 I was tagged by the wonderful Kerri @Kerri McBookNerd and if you haven’t already, I would encourage visiting her blog for some great content, especially fantasy related.

In the interest of keeping this intro short and sweet, I’m simply going to dive in. This tag was originally created by booktuber Heather @Bookables.

How many books are you planning to read in 2023?

I’ve set my Goodreads/Storygraph goal to 150 books. Same as last year but I have a feeling it’s gonna be really different this year with work and all.

Name 5 books you didn’t get to this year but want to make a priority in 2023.

There are definitely a lot more than five books on this list but there are a few I’m really hoping to read in 2023! It’s a very eclectic combination of books but it fits my reading tastes! 😂

What genre do you want to read more of?

I didn’t set a specific goal for this last year cos I already had a feeling it wouldn’t come to anything (I was right, lol) but this year I really do want to read more non-fiction. But to be honest, I also want to get back to reading more literary fiction as well. I’ve got loads of books in these genres on my bookshelf, so it’s time to make a dent now!

Name 3 non-book-related goals for 2023

  • SAVE ALL THE MONEY! I’m notoriously bad at saving money but this year it’s a major goal because I’m planning an end-of-year trip to the UK to visit my bestie in Bristol and we’re going up to Edinburgh for Hogmanay + a short stint in London + I might pop over to Norwich to visit my old haunts. There’s no way I’m having a sad time cos I didn’t save enough money so… It’s on! 😂
  • Fix my eating habits. I want to do this for myself, but I’m also doing it in support of my dad, who has had to change a lot over the past year due to his epilepsy diagnosis. I’m tired of feeling unfit, so I’m ready to make and accept this change!
  • Grow professionally. This is something I already feel tested on since the past week has been stressful AF. 😭 I’ve felt like I’ve regressed professionally in my last job since I didn’t get the support I needed. My new job has been the most challenging but I also want to prove that I’m capable and I can grow and that I just need to throw myself out there and do the thing!

What’s a book you’ve had forever that you still need to read?

The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix E. Harrow

This is one book I have a really good feeling I’m going to love and I want to take my time with it. I think I’m ready to pick it up! Could 2023 be the year this finally gets read? Stay tuned to find out, lol. 😂

One word that you’re hoping 2023 will be

I hope 2023 will be KIND in every respect. I don’t know how this will play out since it’s only the 14th and already I’ve been tested, especially in the past week. 😭 Let’s hope that things only go up from here?

  1. The Way of Kings has been on my tbr for so long as well. 😅 It’s such a long book! I need motivation for it.

  2. I love your answers, Dini. That sounds like an amazing trip, so I understand that saving goal. I read Ten Thousand Doors for my zodiac a couple of years ago, and really liked it, although it is not a book I would normally pick up. I hope you get a chance to read it and have a wonderful 2023 in so many ways.
