Sundays in Bed With… #MyWeeklyWrapUp [166]

We’re back with another Sundays in Bed With… meme! This meme dares to ask you what book has been in your bed this morning and is hosted by Midnight Book Girl. Come share what book you’ve spent your time curled up reading in bed with or which book you wish you had time to read today!

I’ll be spending part of my Sunday in bed with The Christmas Clash by Suzanne Park. It’s a YA contemporary romance set during the holidays and features the rivals-to-lovers trope. I’m at 24% and so far it’s been okay—there’s something a little off in their dynamic but I can’t exactly pinpoint what… I’ve read two books by this author and one was a hit while the other was a miss, so I’m looking forward to seeing what this will end up being!

📖 SYNOPSIS

Who’s naughty and nice at Riverwood Mall? In this hilarious holiday rom-com, two rivals get together to save their families’ livelihoods, and Christmas, too!

Chloe Kwon can’t stand Peter Li. It’s always been that way. Their families don’t get along either: their parents operate rival restaurants in the Riverwood Mall food court―Korean food for the Kwons and Chinese food for the Lis. Now it’s the holiday season and Chloe’s the photographer at the mall’s Santa Land, and Peter works at the virtual reality North Pole experience right across the atrium. It’s all Chloe can do to avoid Peter’s smug, incredibly photogenic face.

But it turns out the mall is about to be sold to a developer and demolished for condos. Eviction notices are being handed out right before Christmas. Their parents don’t know what to do, and soon Chloe and Peter realize that the two of them need to join efforts to try to save the mall. Just when it seems like they can put aside their differences and work closely (very closely) together, they discover that the Kwon and Li feud goes far deeper than either of them realize…

What are you currently reading?

This past week has been so busy it feels like two weeks were stuffed into one with all the meetings and work that needed to get done. Coming off of COVID brain and diving straight into the madness has been challenging but I mean, I did what had to be done.

**the next part is just me being a nervous wreck about a job interview so you can skip it, lol**

On Friday evening, I got an email about a job I’ve been waiting to hear further news about and I’ve been invited for an interview next Wednesday. It’s a Competency-Based Interview—y’know, with those questions like “Tell me about a time when….” or “How did you handle this situation” blablabla. My friend says these interviews are the ‘easiest kind’ but I’m also terrible at interviews in general so my nerves have absolutely skyrocketed to the moon and I’ve had trouble focusing on anything else since. 😮‍💨 I hate this so much but I’m also glad I made it to the next step! 😩 Wednesday feels too soon to prepare enough but it also can’t come soon enough, y’know? AH.

The above news about the job interview has thrown off my weekend reading plans as I haven’t been able to focus on anything else. My nerves and anxious brain take over every time I try to read anything and my thoughts immediately stray back to the dreaded interview. I was so looking forward to continuing my PNR series but I think it’s gonna have to wait until after that’s over…

ICYMI, here’s what I posted on the blog this week:

lonely town – brandon flowers

I hope you’ve all had a good weekend and that you have a great week ahead! Take care of yourselves and of each other, friends 🖤

  1. Well, that’s great news about the job interview. I know you will ace it. Be kind to yourself and don’t be too shy to brag. Park’s books usually have great premises, but something goes wrong in the execution for me. The best was Sunny Song by far, but I am a bit gun shy with her books because they repeatedly have these missteps that keep her books from being solid hits for me. Not bad, just not great.

  2. Good luck with the job interview! I find competency based questions to be the hardest as I don’t know how to answer them- I don’t want to be too honest to the point of being too bragging, blunt, or worse, disparaging others (especially if they’re asking about handling a negative situation) 🙈
