#TopTenTuesday: Series I’d Like to Finish

So, we’re back with another Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is Series I’d Like to Start/Catch up on/Finish.

I know I’m not alone in saying that I’m great at starting series but I’m pretty horrible at completing them. There are only a handful of series that I’ve actually finished and many of them are before I found out there was an online book community and before I started blogging. Maybe there’s a connection there? 😂 But I digress… Here are a few series that I hope to finish at some point because I’m still interested in the books—some of these have been on my TBR pre-2019 but some are newer!

2 books to complete The Winternight Trilogy by Katherine Arden
1 book to completeStrange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor
1 book to completeThe Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang
1 book to completeCaraval Series by Stephanie Garber
1 book to completeThrone of Glass Series by Sarah J. Maas

2 books to completeThe Daevabad Trilogy by S.A. Chakraborty
3 books to completeThe Faithful and the Fallen by John Gwynne
3 books to completeThe Cemetery of Forgotten Books by Carlos Ruiz Zafón
2 books to completeThe Poppy War Series by R.F. Kuang
1 book to completeThe Aurora Cycle by Amy Kauffman and Jay Kristoff

Have you read any of these series or are they also on your to-complete list? What is one of the oldest series that’s on your TBR? How long does it take for you to lose interest in a series or decide you no longer want to read it?

    • I mean, from what I remember, I know I was really enjoying this series. It’s just been SO LONG since I read the second to last book that I feel like I need to re-read the previous ones to remember what happened before finally picking up KoA! 😂

    • You’re actually really good with finish series, Joanna! 😂 I feel like you’re the one bookish friend that intentionally works through series and does a fantastic job getting all the books read! Teach this panda your ways, pls! 🐼

      • Haha thank you! I do try my best and it helps to keep a doc on google to write down ones that aren’t completed and then highlight the ones that are so I know what I can do. Longer series just take forever for me to get through though!

    • I know, that’s part of my hesitation with picking it up especially because I was ridiculously excited for a full on romance for Quan BUT I’m going in with low expectations so hopefully, it won’t be too bad? I hope you enjoy it whenever you decide to pick it up, Tanya! 💜

    • I’m hoping to finish the Winternight Trilogy this December! I really want to read it and figured it’s now or never (kidding, it’ll never be never, lol)! 😂 I can’t wait to read the books!

  1. Lol, you know what, yes, we are all enablers of each other when it comes to picking up more series than finishing. I haven’t read The Heart Principle either, but I just got distracted by other romance books. The Dragon Republic might be my favorite of the series, but gosh, it hurt.

    • I think the book community are pro-enablers when it comes to finishing any book before adding new ones to our lists. 😂 I keep getting distracted by other books all the time! I’m glad to hear TDR was your favourite in the series—I can only imagine how painful it must’ve been considering how I felt at the end of TPW!

    • Haha, why do I relate to this so much!? I can’t even count the number of times I read a quote, excerpt or review of a book and immediately went to buy it and then left it unread. Let’s just say I won’t be running out of reading material any time soon. At all. Like, ever! 😂😂😂

  2. The Heart Principle and Aurora’s End are also still on my TBR! I was super excited about both but then I saw some mixed reviews and I ended up procrastinating… but still really want to read them both! I thought Kingdom of Ash was a great finale, hope you’ll enjoy that one when you get to it.

    • I think I only recall seeing one review for Aurora’s End but I did see the mixed ones for THP. I think knowing that it’s different from what we initially expected will probably help me when I eventually pick it up. 😂 I think! I hope you enjoy both of them whenever you read them.

    • Yeah, the mixed review for THP have definitely contributed to me not picking it up immediately but I think knowing that it’s gonna be totally different from what I expected will help, especially now that a lot of time has passed! 😂 I hope so anyway, I do still want to read it one day!

  3. Winternight and Kiss Quotient are two series that I have read and enjoyed. I hope you get a chance to finish them. I have not read any of the others, but some of them sound interesting. Nice list, Dini.

  4. Hmmm, you make a very good point. Most of the series I’ve left unfinished are ones I started pre-blogging. Oops! 😂 I do miss just getting lost in series. Pre-blogging, I would often reread entire series that I loved. I still need to read The Heart Principle and the entire Throne of Glass series. Great list, Dini!

    • I don’t often re-read but I do feel like I worked through series a lot quicker before learning about the book community and ALL the other books that I’ve discovered along with it! 😂 I wouldn’t change it though! I hope you enjoy ToG and The Heart Principle as well, Dedra! 💜

    • Wow! If you re-read ToG every summer, it gives me hope that I can also re-read it to finally finish it once! 😂 That’s amazing! I hope you enjoy Muse of Nightmares whenever you get around to picking it up!

    • Yeah, I’ve heard that it’s quite different to what a lot of people expected and I’m curious about it especially because it’s Quan! BUT yeah, I defo will go in with different expectations, that’s for sure! Thanks for the heads up 😊

    • Haha, y’know, Chaol gets a lot of flack but I never got the hate. I actually didn’t mind his book! I mean, he wasn’t my fave or anything but tolerable. 😂 I wonder if that’ll change once I re-read the books before finishing the series! LOL
