#TopTenTuesday: Witchy, Ghosty, Magical Non-Scary Reads!

So, we’re back with another Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is a Halloween Freebie!

It took a little while to come up with some ideas for this Halloween freebie but in the end, I went for witchy, ghosty, magical reads (for TheUltimateChickens™️)! 😂 If there’s one genre I tend to stay away from its horror and the spookier/scarier end of paranormal/supernatural reads—I’m not here to let my imagination scare me into staying in bed with all the lights on through the night. No, thank you! That said, I find I still enjoy a good witchy, ghosty, magical read that might be a little spooky but that mostly doesn’t terrify me, so I decided to highlight a few titles that I’ve read and a few more that are still on my TBR!

Books I’ve Read

**book covers are linked to my review if I’ve written one**

Gallant by V.E. Schwab
Belladonna by Adalyn Grace
Taproot by Keezy Young
The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater
The Puppetmaster’s Apprentice by Lisa DeSelm

On my TBR

The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling
The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna
Plain Bad Heroines by Emily M. Danforth
Go Hex Yourself by Jesica Clare
A Ghost in Shining Armor by Therese Beharrie

Are you also not a fan of horror/scary stories? Have you read any of these witchy, ghosty, magical reads or do you also have them on your TBR? Do you have any non-scary Halloweenie book recommendations?

  1. They all look non-scary but cute. I haven’t read any of them, that’s why I had to twist the topic again.

  2. This is pretty close to my type of halloween read too! I love gothic atmosphere and spooky elements, but I don’t want anything that’s actually super scary.

  3. I enjoy both cute and scary witchy reads! I found that I was picking up horror books without realising they were the horror genre, and I liked them. I think the real world is scarier. 🙈

  8. I have only one of these even on my TBR and that is The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna. I don’t read much paranormal stuff, but probably could have found then if I had the time, but vacation took precedence this week.
