Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:
- What did you read last?
- What are you currently reading?
- What will you read next?

Since last week I’ve managed to finish six books and some of these were really wild rides, lol.

(ARC) Belladonna (Belladonna #1) by Adalyn Grace ★★★★★
I’m The Ultimate Chicken™️ so this was entirely out of my comfort zone with all the ghosties but I loved it. It’s eerily gothic and hauntingly atmospheric with an intriguing mystery and a sweeping slow-burn romance! Check out my review.
(ARC) The Decoy Girlfriend by Lillie Vale ★★★½
I really enjoyed this celebrity romance ft. fake-dating and forced proximity. I thought the writing was witty and the characters were funny and had great chemistry all around, but some things didn’t entirely work for me… My review will be posted on Saturday!
(KU) Vicious Lost Boys Series #1 & #2 by Nikki St. Crowe ★★½
I was intrigued by the Peter Pan retelling premise but this turned out to be 90% smut that escalated very quickly! Nothing’s wrong with reading smut but sadly, I just didn’t care about anything, I didn’t find it “hot”, and I had hoped the second book would improve but it didn’t. This was simply just not my jam!
Signal Moon by Kate Quinn ★★★★☆
This was entirely too short at under 100pgs because I would’ve loved to keep reading about these characters! It’s clear Quinn has done her research and she’s passionate about history because it came through in the writing. I’m so glad I finally read one of Quinn’s books and I can’t wait to read one of her full-length novels!
(KU) Does It Hurt? by H.D. Carlton ★★½
Another one with a great premise but that ended up being 80% smut and a minor mystery/thriller plot. I didn’t really care for either of these characters and got frustrated by how they do nothing for a good chunk of the book except have sex, even in the most inappropriate moments. Their romance was also dark so definitely check out the content/trigger warnings!

I’m feeling a little restless at the moment so I’ve got four books on the go—two SFFs and two romances. I just picked up Sabriel this morning when I realised that the Old Kingdom Readalong hosted by Jordyn had already started (oops) but I still have time to catch up!

- Just One Damned Thing After Another by Jodi Taylor – 38%
- Now This Is Us by Jennifer Lee – 19%
- West Side Love Story by Priscilla Oliveras – 25%
- Sabriel by Garth Nix – 2%

What’re you currently reading? Have you read any of these books or are they also on your TBR? Happy reading, friends! 😍

You’ve got plenty of time to catch up!!! Chapters aren’t due til Friday! 🙂 I hope you like this book so so much. I’m sorry the Peter Pan retellings didn’t work for you, but they really are just smut LOL There’s like the tiniest barest hint of a plot there.

Haha, yeah there is very little plot in the Peter Pan retellings and I guess I just wasn’t feeling the smut either so it wasn’t for me (sady, lol) but glad I gave it a try. Still working my way through it but hopefully with the time difference and more free time for me tomorrow, I can make some headway!

Two 2.5 star books this week… yuck. I’ve seen some pretty bad reviews for Does It Hurt. I’ll be avoiding that one. I hope you current reads are much better!

Yeah, it was a little yuck. I think Does It Hurt? had a lot of potential but then that diverted to mostly smut and like, fair if that’s what you’re in the mood to read, but sadly, I was not! I am enjoying my current reads more, thanks! I hope you’re enjoying your reads too, Tanya 🙂

Two out of three isn’t bad. I loved Vale’s YA, but I wasn’t sure about this one.

Vale’s book was OK. I don’t have anything to compare it to since this was my first book by her but while the characters were great and their chemistry was fun, the steam was a bit too cringe for me and it was also very instalove! Glad I gave it a go though 🙂

I downloaded Does It Hurt? but now you have me rethinking reading it.

Hmm… I think it had potential but then the smut took over and the plot fell to the side and that was disappointing. If you do give it a go, I hope you enjoy it though! I can be quite picky 😝

I might read it… we’ll see.

It was a rocky reading week but I have been in a weird reading mood lately so I guess it fits? I’m literally trying anything that might pique my interest and maybe I should stop doing that! 😂 Let me know when you start Sabriel! Actually, I’m going to message you now. I got no further than the first chapter… Oops! Happy reading, lovely! 💜

I’ve been in a weird mood but that’s probably with all the fertility stuff going on. Also, with all the visitors and Oliver has been sick all week. ugh! It’s been a crazy time.

I keep seeing great reviews for Belladonna. I can’t wait to read it. Maggie Moves On is getting great reviews, too. I just finished reading Score’s previous book, so it has me extra excited to read more from her. Hope you love it!

Belladonna was fantastic and I’m so glad that I stepped out of my comfort zone for it. It’s definitely creepy/spooky but the characters, the plot, the romance were all great! I feel like I’ve been saying that I’ll pick up Maggie Moves On for ages now but haven’t got around to it… I hope it’ll be soon cos I also heard great things about it! 😂

I need to get to reading Sabriel too! 😂 I’ve been busy so far this week and now I have to deal with a flat tire.

Oh no, flat tires are so frustrating so I hope you get that sorted quickly! I still really haven’t made much headway with Sabriel but I hope you enjoy it, too! 😃

Sorry you had such a mixed reading week. But glad you liked Belladonna. I keep hearing good things about it. I’m thinking I might need to read it. lol

Belladonna was fantastic, Julie! It was so far out my comfort zone in terms of the supernatural stuff but ugh, the plot and romance and characters were so well done. I would definitely recommend it and I hope you enjoy it! 😃

Oh yay you’re doing the Sabriel read-a-long, too! I just posted my discussion post, but really only had time to focus on one of Jordyn’s questions haha. Three of your “reading next” books are also on my TBR. I think the one most “off topic” for me genre-wise (that is, I tend to stick to fantasy) is As Long as the Lemon Tree Grows…I stumbled across it on Twitter several months ago and was definitely drawn in my the book cover. It’s stunning.
