So, we’re back with another Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is Books I Love That Were Written Over Ten Years Ago.
Should it go without saying that Austen’s books are on this list or should I still include her books on this list? Duh. Isn’t it wild though that looking for books published ten+ years ago means finding books that were released pre-2012? 😂 These books are listed in chronological order based on when they were first published. There are some on here that I didn’t realise were published so long ago so this list was definitely fun to look up!

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen (1813)
The Stranger Beside Me by Ann Rule (1980)
Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman (1996)
The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón (2001)
The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini (2003)

Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult (2007)
The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss (2007)
Fall of Giants by Ken Follett (2010)
Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys (2011)
The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller (2011)

Do you read a lot of “older” books that were published long ago? What are some of your favourite books published 10+ years ago—any similar favourites with me? Have you read any of these books or are they on your TBR?

I am seeing so many Picoult books this week. Alas, I have only read the co-write with her daughter.

Ooh, how was that one? I haven’t read any of their collabs but I devoured Picoult’s books when I discovered her in HS. It’s been a minute since I read one of her books though…

I thought the book was lackluster. I rated it really low (and you know I don’t tend to do that). Oddly enough, it was made into a play and is currently running Off-Broadway

One of these days I really should read Name of the Wind!

Yes! The only reason I would recommend not starting it yet is because the series isn’t finished and at this rate, who knows when we’ll get the next book 😂 But it’s *so* good!

Great list Dini. Kite Runner is on my list as well.

It definitely is, but one that stays with you for a very long time.

The Song of Achilles made my list too and that was so surprising to me because it felt like it was just released recently…. though my perception of time has been pretty wonky as I still feel like the nineties were just 10 years ago haha 🙂 Also, love Pride and Prejudice!

SoA is definitely a popular title this week but I was surprised when I saw it pop up on titles published 10+ years ago 😂 My perception of time is pretty wonky too, lol.

The Song of Achilles crushed my soul (and I loved it lol)

Ugh, same! I remember finishing it and just lying in bed staring at the ceiling thinking wtf how does it hurt this much when I know how it ends?! Haha

I think knowing how it ends makes things worse! Even the happier moments are tinged with tragedy lol

I’ve only read four of your books (Pride & Prejudice, Shadow of the Wind, Kite Runner and Fall of Giants) and they were all fantastic.
Thanks for visiting my TTT this week.

Oh I love SHADOW OF THE WIND. I should have added it to my list, too. Sigh. So many wonderful old reads!

Normally I don’t read older books because they often don’t have an ebook or audiobook. However, I have read The Song Of Achilles and The Kite Runner is also on my list. I forgot about TSOA.

Yeah, the much older titles that are less popular are definitely harder to find on ebook! SoA and Kite Runner are such great titles 🙂

It’s amazing to me how long ago some books were published. Where does the time go? Gah lol. I’ve never read Pride & PRejudice even though I’ve seen a ton of the movie adaptations.

Where DOES time go?! It’s a question I ask myself almost every day 😂 Maybe it’s an unpopular opinion but I love the 2005 P&P adaptation but the book is obviously better! 😉

I liked that one too!

I found that it was a crazy time – 2012 doesn’t feel that long ago yet at the same time so much has happened since then!
I had an Austen on my list 🤣
Have a great week!

It really doesn’t feel like so long ago but saying that it was 10 years ago makes it feel like ages at the same time? 😂 No ‘favourites’ list of mine is complete without its Austen!

I completely agree! In 2012 the Olympics were held here. So much has happened since then, yet it doesn’t always feel it!
Haha. Quite right.

Ooh, really? I remember when it came out when I was in HS. I pretty much made everyone read it and then one of the first girls who I loaned my copy to stole it and pretended that she never had it. Oh well 😂

Nineteen Minutes was also on my list this week too. I very nearly included Between Shades of Gray as it’s one of my favourite historical fiction books, but I was already up to 15 books on my list and I had to cut off somewhere!
