#WWWWednesday: 03 August 2022

Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

Since last week I’ve managed to finish four books. I was really on a romance kick and after finishing my last book, which was a regional romance, I kind of want to dive into all the histroms now!

(KU) Fake Empire by C.W. Farnsworth ★★★★☆
I was pleasantly surprised by this! Scarlett and Crew are both alpha bosses who are tired of the fakeness of the ultra-rich world they live in. I thought it would be hard to sympathise with them but I loved both of them and found myself really invested in their journeys. It was a little angsty, delightfully steamy, and definitely swoony! 😍

(KU) Sin Bin (Carolina Comets #4) by Teagan Hunter ★★★★☆
I always have a fun time with Hunter’s books and it was no different with Smith and Emilia’s story. It was a forbidden and age-gap romance which made it a little bit more angsty but it also turned the heat up really high! 🔥 These two had such great chemistry and I loved how the conflict with their relationship was handled. Where can I find a Smith? Also, I loved the inclusion of text messages in the story cos I feel it’s something Hunter does really well 😍

Seven Days in June by Tia Williams ★★★★½ (rounded up)
I 100% understand the hype around this book. This was another buddy read with Leslie and I made myself stop reading so I wouldn’t get too far ahead. There’s so much EVERYTHING in this story—raw emotion, passion, longing and desperation—and each emotion was so palpable. My heart was in my throat reading about their romance! I really loved Williams’ writing because even though she was covering heavy topics, it was still humorous, witty and so sharp! I can’t wait to read more by this author asap.

A Lady’s Guide to Fortune-Hunting by Sophie Irwin ★★★★☆
It took a little while for me to warm up to the story and writing (and okay, Kitty) but once I took a moment to sit down with it, I ended up finishing 70% of the book in one sitting. This was a wonderfully classic regency romance in the vein of Jane Austen and it was such a treat to read! Review coming soon.

Leslie’s love for The Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea by Axie Oh made me go out and buy it ASAP several months ago and I’ve just now got around to *finally* reading it. I picked it up on a whim last night and I’m already 42% through.

The writing is gorgeous, the world-building is so vivid and I love the lore and magic we’re getting! I can’t wait to get home and dive back into this tonight. 😍

What’re you currently reading? Have you read any of these books or are they also on your TBR? Happy reading, friends! 😍

  2. Sin Bin is definitely my speed, and the cover for The Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea is amazingly beautiful. I spy so many good books in your possibilities pile. I have only read Maggie Moves on, but Quinn is always great and Moor’s books looks fun
