#WWWWednesday: 15 June 2022

Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

Since last week I’ve managed to finish four books: two graphic novels, one romance and I finally finished the chonkster! 😭 Even though I’ve read four books, it was a pretty slow reading week for me, what with settling somewhere new and no longer having half as much alone time as before!

(ARC) Slip by Marika McCoola and Aatmaja Pandya ★★☆☆☆
This had a great concept but sadly the execution didn’t work for me. It started well but as the story progressed, it became more disjointed and I didn’t feel any connection to our MC either. Check out my review

(ARC) Dreams Factory by Jerome Hamon ★★½ (rounded up)
This had an absolutely fascinating concept but again, the execution was a bit of a miss for me. The story was interesting but not as great or coherent as it could’ve been. BUT the artwork was absolutely fantastic and really brought the bleak atmosphere to life. Check out my review

(ARC) Defiant Heart (Starlight Cove #1) by Brighton Walsh ★★★¾ (rounded up)
This was a great start to what I’m sure is going to be a fun and exciting new small-town romance by Walsh. I love her small-town romances and although this felt a little rushed and not as in-depth with the character development as I’d hoped it would be, I loved Brady and Luna. Their chemistry was incendiary! Check out my review

The War of Two Queens (From Blood and Ash #4) by Jennifer L. Armentrout ★★☆☆☆
This as a buddy read with Leslie and Maya and we all read it at different paces. I’m so glad it’s finally over cos no offense, no JLA book needs to be over 600 pages long?! This was painful and I won’t be continuing. I was just very curious about what had everyone in an uproar; it wasn’t at all a surprise to me as it was hinted at from so early on.

Finally moving on to Felix Ever After, a book that I’ve been keen on ever since it came out! I’ll be reading this with Leslie and it’s one of my 20 Books of Summer reads! 😃

What’re you currently reading? Have you read any of these books or are they also on your TBR? Happy reading, friends! 😍

    • Haha, yeah, I don’t know why I kept reading this series. I was buddy reading it and it was kind of fun to hate read it? But I think I’m definitely done now. Thanks, but no 😂 I’m really looking forward to Blood and Moonlight too! Hope you enjoy it!

    • Lol, I don’t know if I’d recommend the FBAA series… I mean, I did read all of them to date but I hate read most of them? I know I’m very much in the minority with my feelings for it though (or at least, it seems I am) cos lots of people do love it. I loved Felix! It was written with so much heart and ah, the hype for that one is definitely spot on 💜

      • Lol, I might try them at some point, but they definitely don’t sound like something i am dying to read! I have definitely seen mixed reviews! Ahh that’s great!! I will definitely have to bump Felix up the tbr then”💜

  2. Dreams factory does sound good, sorry to hear the execution was a little lackluster. Blood and Moonlight has a fabulous cover! I’m going to go take a look at that one.

  3. WOOOHOOOO!!!! It’s over.. haha!! Yep, two stars is about right. I gave it 2.5 rounded up but I think it needs a flat 2 stars. Gosh, I’m so done with JLA! I hope Maya likes it much more than we do because I know how much she loves the series. I am so excited for Felix!! I’m trying to read but every time I pick it up my little one needs me. Stupid Covid!

  4. Not going to lie I have no interest in picking up a JLA book despite them being so popular they just don’t like something I would really enjoy.
I hope you are enjoying Felix Ever After it’s been on my TBR since it was released so I really need to give it ago at some point

    • I really don’t blame you for not wanting to pick up JLA because I basically hate-read those books 😅 I don’t know why I did it but apparently I like to torture myself haha. I really don’t see why they’re so popular but I guess to each their own! I read Felix so quickly and that one is DEFINITELY worth the hype! It was so so good and I’m so glad I finally picked it up! 💜

  5. So glad you managed to finish the JLA book! It sounds like it was a struggle. I gave up on the series after book 1 and I’m pleased I did not continue after everything that I heard about book #4. It definitely wasn’t for me.
Too bad that the execution was lacking, because Dreams Factory looks so good! Blood & Moonlight’s cover is stunning!
    Happy reading, Dini! 💜

    • I did finish it and I can’t believe I did because damn, my stopover in struggle town was soooo long 🤣 You’re definitely not missing out on anything, imho. I hope you have a great week of reading, Andie! 💜
