Welcome back to Goodreads Monday! It’s been a very hot minute since I did one but I figured I might as well get back into it! This weekly meme was started by @Lauren’s Page Turners and it invites you to pick a book from your TBR and explain why you want to read it. Easy enough, right? Feel free to join in if you want to! I’ll be using a random number generator to pick my books from my insanely long GR Want-to-read list.*
*Sorry if a book has been featured twice. I need to make better note of which ones I’ve done already!
This week’s featured book is The Wolf of Oren-Yaro by K.S. Villoso. This is an Asian epic/high fantasy that was released last year and is Villoso’s debut novel. 😍

“I murdered a man and made my husband leave the night before they crowned me.”
Born under the crumbling towers of Oren-yaro, Queen Talyien was the shining jewel and legacy of the bloody War of the Wolves that nearly tore her nation apart. Her upcoming marriage to the son of her father’s rival heralds peaceful days to come.
But his sudden departure before their reign begins fractures the kingdom beyond repair.
Years later, Talyien receives a message, urging her to attend a meeting across the sea. It’s meant to be an effort at reconciliation, but an assassination attempt leaves the queen stranded and desperate to survive in a dangerous land. With no idea who she can trust, she’s on her own as she struggles to fight her way home.
Why do I want to read it?
The first time I saw this book mentioned was last year and so many people were saying amazing things about it (mostly that it was epic) and my interest was immediately piqued. Honestly, just reading this synopsis already has me thinking it’s gonna be a blood-y good read! Also, this cover? She looks like such a bad ass bitch queen that you don’t mess with! I have a feeling that it’s going to be quite different to the fantasies that I normally read—although I obviously mean that in a good way—and I’m hoping that I end up loving this one as much as everyone else seems to. It’s also one of my goals to make read more of the books by Asian authors that are already on my TBR, so I’m looking forward to picking this one up this year! 😉
Have you read The Wolf of Oren-Yaro or is it on your TBR too? Thoughts?

I don’t know how this one slipped through the cracks for me, but I haven’t seen it before. It sounds awesome, though!
