Sundays in Bed With… #MyWeeklyWrapUp

We’re back with another Sundays in Bed With… meme! This meme dares to ask you what book has been in your bed this morning and is hosted by Midnight Book Girl. Come share what book you’ve spent time curled up reading in bed with, or which book you wish you had time to read today!

I’ve read very little this weekend… But I’m looking forward to ending my Sunday in bed with The Cousins. I’ve really enjoyed all of McManus’ YA thrillers/mysteries and unsurprisingly, this one has captivated my attention very quickly! I’m already intrigued by the mystery of the Story family and I’m looking forward to seeing how these characters grow!

Milly, Aubrey, and Jonah Story are cousins, but they barely know each another, and they’ve never even met their grandmother. Rich and reclusive, she disinherited their parents before they were born. So when they each receive a letter inviting them to work at her island resort for the summer, they’re surprised . . . and curious.

Their parents are all clear on one point–not going is not an option. This could be the opportunity to get back into Grandmother’s good graces. But when the cousins arrive on the island, it’s immediately clear that she has different plans for them. And the longer they stay, the more they realize how mysterious–and dark–their family’s past is.

The entire Story family has secrets. Whatever pulled them apart years ago isn’t over–and this summer, the cousins will learn everything.

What are you currently reading?

I spent half of this weekend working on my shelves and I’m about 98% done but I got too tired yesterday so I stopped before finishing completely (kinda annoyed at myself for that tbh) 😂 I did finished my desk space and put up a magnetic board which I’m quite happy with though! But the majority of my weekend was spent playing Animal Crossing (surprise–but actually it’s been a while since I’ve spent this much time on the game). I’ve always had ‘island envy’ whenever I’d see peoples’ cottage/fairy core islands because I love that “natural but made look”, and I’ve always struggled with how to do it myself. But this weekend I decided to just try focusing on my entrance and shop/tailor area and… I (kinda) did it?! I’m not super happy with the shops area because it feels overcrowded but I do love my entrance! So allow me to indulge in some sharing of images 😂

Doing this took me an embarrassingly long time (plus a little bit of time traveling for the buildings)… And now I guess I just have to figure out how to do the rest of the island! Welp 😂😭

This week was an amazing week for book mail as I got some special edition boxes that I ordered from Owlcrate and Illumicrate + my October Owlcrate (not pictured) + books I’d ordered from my local shop over a month ago! I’m so happy that these books are finally in hand so let’s just ignore the fact that I haven’t been reading much lately, okay? 🙈

The end of November is quickly creeping up on us and I’m over here thinking what the hell have I actually read this month? Because it feels like I’ve read absolutely nothing 😅 I wanted to pick up some non-fiction but I think I’m gonna have to shelve that thought because at the rate I’m reading and with how quickly time is flying, it’s highly unlikely to happen! Though I did start the introduction chapter to Stay Sexy & Don’t Get Murdered and it’s as hilarious as the podcast! Karen & Georgia’s voices really come through strongly in the writing and I think if I were to try fitting in a NF, I’d definitely pick this one!

TRACK HIGHLIGHT

Thanks to Noelle’s booktube video (which I highly recommend watching btw!) where she matches romance books to songs from Ariana Grande’s new album, I started listening to the songs last night and I’m officially obsessed. It’s such a good album! Also… Damn Ms. Grande! Some of these lyrics got steamy AF but there’s no disputing they’re total jams (imo)! 😉 pov is probs my favourite song on the album ❤️ it’s a slower ballad but so sweet!

“i wanna love me (ooh) // the way that you love me (ooh)
ooh, for all my pretty and all of my ugly too // i’d love to see me from your point of view”

I hope you’ve all had a good weekend and that you have a great week ahead! Take care of yourselves and of each other, friends 🖤

  1. I’m hoping to start Cousins the first week in December! I’m on a blog tour the 8th, so need to get on it. I’m trying to get through my middle grade readathon. I am reading 10% of Burning God a night, when my little one goes to sleep at a decent hour!

  2. Ooh I’m so excited for The Cousins! I’m hoping I might be able to find it in the library. 😀 It’s good to know I’m not the only one who hasn’t been reading much lately–November has NOT been a productive month for me! I look forward to your thoughts on The Cousins and Addie LaRue. 🙂

  3. Hope you enjoyed The Cousins! Addie LaRue owlcrate’s edition is so bare, I wish they did something extra on the naked cover or different edges or something. Illumicrate’s edition is amazing! I love how your island is looking Dini! It looks soooo good! I’m terrified of terraforming so my island is still pretty much the same, I need to watch some tutorials and start on it. I really need to up my game! 😂
