#WWWWednesday: 14 October

Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

Since last Wednesday I’ve managed to read 4 books. It was a pretty average week of reading…

Sisters of the Moon by Alexandrea Weis ★★★½
This was a gripping supernatural fantasy with horror elements to it. Weis does a fantastic job establishing an eerie atmosphere and creating intrigue through the mystery of the order. While the characters and world building weren’t as developed as I’d hoped they’d be, I am intrigued to see what happens next, especially after that action packed and intense ending! Read my review.

I Hope You’re Listening by Tom Ryan ★★★½
It’s official: I’m a sucker for the podcast format when it comes to mysteries! I just need to start listening to more podcasts IRL. This was a little different to the other podcast style YA thrillers that I’ve read and it sheds light on the awesome work that Laptop Detectives have done and continue to do! It was creepy, it was thrilling and although it wasn’t perfect, I still really enjoyed it! Review will be up soon.

Winter, White and Wicked by Shannon Dittemore ★★★½
Was so excited for a new Teagen Hunter romance because her Texting series is still one of my faves! I enjoyed this but not as much as I’d hoped to. The antagonistic relationship between Dean and River was basically the “adult” version of the playground “I hate boys” and “girls are stupid” crush dynamic and it didn’t really work for me. I just wanted more development in everything! I really liked the side characters though so I’ll continue the series if it’s about them! Read my review.

The Puppetmaster’s Apprentice by Lisa DeSelm ★★★★☆
I was never a huge fan of Pinnochio growing up–I’m pretty sure the whale and the donkey scarred me for life, but this synopsis was too intriguing to pass up! I’m so glad I read it because wow, what a thrill! I loved Piro and her band of makers–total found family vibes! My review is up tomorrow morning but basically, this is a gem of a book that fantasy lovers won’t want to miss! 😍

I’m at the tail end of The Magic Ingredient and I’ve enjoyed this nice “palette cleanser” from my previous darker fantasy reads! 😂 Legends Rise, the third Venators book, is my next blog tour read and I’m looking forward to returning to this world with characters I grew to love in the last book. I’m really curious to find out what happens next in this action-packed series! I still need to finish Gung Ho Vol. 1, which I started last week, but I also started The Song of the Marked and I really want to keep reading it because so far so really good! It’s available on Kindle Unlimited if you have it, FYI. 😉

Blog tour reads. Blog tour reads. Blog tour reads.
I have quite a few coming up, especially in October and I can’t believe it’s already almost the last week of September?! 2020 is speeding by 🙈

How is your reading week going and what are you currently reading? Hope the rest of your week goes well!

    • LOL okay I’m glad I’m not the only one. I swear, the whale made me scared of the ocean for ages and the donkey… Ugh, pretty shocking scenes I think for a children’s movie 🤣 Scarred… I’m definitely scarred 😅

  1. Sorry to hear you didn’t love Winter White and Wicked, I had read some mixed reviews so passed requesting in on NG. I’m starting the new Venators next too and I am SO excited, especially after the end of book 2… just hope we get lots more Beltran 😀

    • I enjoyed Winter White and Wicked enough to continue on with the series because I’m curious to see what happens next, but the worldbuilding was pretty patchy and confusing. Haha I really need to recap myself on what happened at the end of book two (might read the last few chapters before starting) but I’m excited for Beltran too 😍 Hope we both enjoy it, Becky!
