It’s the first Goodreads Monday of 2020, friends! This weekly meme was started by @Lauren’s Page Turners and it invites you to pick a book from your TBR and explain why you want to read it. Easy enough, right? Feel free to join in if you want to! I’ll be using a random number generator to pick my books from my insanely long GR Want-to-read list.
This week’s book is Renegades (Renegades #1) by Marissa Meyer. First of all, can we take a look at this awesome cover? I love it! This YA fantasy/sci-fi was added to my Goodreads TBR in 2017! It has a pretty good 4.16 average with 46k+ ratings and 8k+ reviews.

Secret Identities.
Extraordinary Powers.
She wants vengeance. He wants justice.
The Renegades are a syndicate of prodigies–humans with extraordinary abilities–who emerged from the ruins of a crumbled society and established peace and order where chaos reigned. As champions of justice, they remain a symbol of hope and courage to everyone…except the villains they once overthrew.
Nova has a reason to hate the Renegades, and she is on a mission for vengeance. As she gets closer to her target, she meets Adrian, a Renegade boy who believes in justice–and in Nova. But Nova’s allegiance is to a villain who has the power to end them both.
Why do I want to read it?
After reading and absolutely loving The Lunar Chronicles by Meyer, I’ve been really looking forward to trying more of her books in the hopes of maybe finding another favourite YA fantasy/sci-fi series! This one has been on my GR TBR for a while but I think it’s also been on my physical shelf for quite a while too! I admit that I tried to read it at some point not long after finishing Lunar Chronicles, but I don’t think I was in the right mood for it so after trying and failing to get hooked in the first two chapters, I put it aside for later. Maybe later will be some point this year? I know the series is finished now so I guess that’s a good reason to finally pick it up, right?
Have you read Renegades or is it on your TBR too?

Ooh I’ve had this on my shelf for a while too! I haven’t tried the Lunar chronicles yet but this premise intrigued me. I hope you enjoy this one when you get around to it Dini 😊

I really enjoyed the Lunar Chronicles. I love re-tellings and the scifi retelling premise really hooked me in! Pretty unique imo 🙂 I hope you enjoy this one and Lunar whenever you get to them!

Fair enough. I’m not typically a “superhero” story lover so let’s see how I get on with this one! Lol

Ooh I hope you get around to it this was a fun read! She puts a very interesting spin on superheroes and villains in this one! A little cliche at times (though it feels intentional mostly) but it has some great diversity, awesome powers and an interesting concept since it is based after the big showdown between the heroes and villains!!I really enjoyed it, definitely want to continue the series – I hope you enjoy if you get too it! 💜😊
