Welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:
- What did you read last?
- What are you currently reading?
- What will you read next?

I’ve only finished ONE BOOK since last Wednesday! ONE BOOK! 🙈And it was a re-read too! To say that January is a slow reading month would be a gross understatement. I’m really hoping things pick up next month…
Thunderhead (Arc of a Scythe #2) by Neal Shusterman ★★★★☆
Now that I’m done with my re-read with Thunderhead I feel more than ready for The Toll. Thunderhead was (imo) a slow moving sequel but it was no less enjoyable. I loved learning more about The Thunderhead and the new important character we’re introduced to, Grayson Tolliver, really grew on me. We got to explore more areas of the world including Israebia, a neglected D.C., and Endura which is the heart of the Scythedom. Although the shock factor wasn’t as intense this second time, the plot twists still had me exclaiming my WTFs. Shusterman really knows how to throw you off! You can read my full review here.

I’m literally 10% away from finishing The Toll but thought it’d be premature to include it in the pile of finished reads! 😂 I thought I’d take a break between Thunderhead and The Toll but the more I tried reading anything else, my mind kept straying back to this book so I decided to give it my full attention! I’ve still haven’t started reading The Most Fun We Ever Had again and to be honest I don’t know what the progress is for everyone else in the buddy read. It’s a small group of IG friends though and we’ve been pretty lax about all our buddy reads lol also, the enthusiasm was not high for this book the last time I checked 😅 I feel like this one is going to stay stuck in my current reads for… a while! I’m going to start How to Build A Heart as soon as I finish The Toll!

After finishing How to Build A Heart I still have the eaRC of the Parable of the Sower graphic novel to read. I’ve also been wanting to read Spin the Dawn lately and it’s one of the books I brought to Myanmar with me so I think I’ll also get started on it. This cover is still so mesmerising! So gorgeous 😍

What are you currently reading this week?

I just started The Vicious Cure last night but haven’t got very far. I’m just behind on life, lol.

I think it’s a very typical family drama but I haven’t finished reading it either (and I keep putting it off)! I think it’s just hard when you don’t like many or any of the characters lol

I hope you’re enjoying The Toll. I know what you mean about trying to read one book while your mind is on another. I have to go to the book I can’t stop thinking about. Hope you love Spin the Dawn. I’m really looking forward to the next book!!

The Toll went in a different direction than I thought it would but I mean, overall it was a pretty good ending. I started Spin the Dawn last night and not far in yet but enjoying it so far 🙂

Hubby loves the Scythe series but I have yet to get into it. I haven’t heard of the rest. What do you think of The Toll? Since you’re almost done with it lol.

I finished The Toll and… I mean, it was a satisfying conclusion to the series in a sense that all questions are answered and there’s like a clear resolution to the problem. But it also went into a direction I didn’t expect and I felt there was a lot of … missed opportunities to make it EVEN BETTER, so that disappointed me a little bit lol still a really great series though imo!

I just finished Pan by Gina L. Maxwell, and started Strange the Dreamer. I’m not fully decided on my next read yet but I have a couple of days to figure it out. Spin the Dawn sounds awesome, as does a trip to Myanmar! I’m super jealous.

Never heard of Pan but I hope you enjoy(ed?) Strange the Dreamer! I love that book 💞 So whimsical and dreamy and I love Lazlo lol my trip to Myanmar has been a serious bust since I’ve been plagued with being sick the whole time I’ve been here… But everyone here is really lovely and I’m lucky I get to come back!

Pan is a contemporary romance twist on the Peter Pan story, and it was fabulous. I loved Lazlo, and the story was good, but I hate very few things more than a story that wraps up without any resolution and a TO BE CONTINUED. I feel like I got cheated out of an ending and the author just wants to sucker me into reading a second book that I’d most likely have already been into reading. But now I’m not sure if I want to.
I’m so sorry to hear that you’ve been sick in Myanmar! Hopefully next time you’ll be able to enjoy the trip better!
