We’re back with another Sundays in Bed With… meme! This meme dares to ask you what book has been in your bed this morning and is hosted by Midnight Book Girl. Come share what book you’ve been you’ve spent time curled up reading in bed with, or which book you wish you had time to read today!
I’ve spent this Sunday thinking about the two books that I’m currently reading: Darkdawn and Descendant of the Crane. I’m really enjoying both and I know I said I would give my wholehearted attention to Darkdawn once I started it but I read the first page of DotC last week and found that when I put it down I couldn’t stop thinking about it… So here we are reading both books!
The Republic of Itreya is in chaos. Mia Corvere has assassinated Cardinal Duomo and rumors of Consul Scaeva’s death ripple through the street of Godsgrave like wildfire. But buried beneath those same streets, deep in the ancient city’s bones, lies a secret that will change the Republic forever.
Mia and her brother Jonnen must journey through the depths of the ancient metropolis. Their quest will take them through the Godsgrave underdark, across the Sea of Swords, back to the library of the Quiet Mountain and the poisoned blades of Mia’s old mentors, and at last the fabled Crown of the Moon. There, Mia will at last discover the origins of the darkin, and learn the destiny that lies in store for her and her world. But with the three suns now in descent, and Truedark on the horizon, will she survive?

Tyrants cut out hearts. Rulers sacrifice their own.
Princess Hesina of Yan has always been eager to shirk the responsibilities of the crown, but when her beloved father is murdered, she’s thrust into power, suddenly the queen of an unstable kingdom. Determined to find her father’s killer, Hesina does something desperate: she engages the aid of a soothsayer—a treasonous act, punishable by death… because in Yan, magic was outlawed centuries ago.
Using the information illicitly provided by the sooth, and uncertain if she can trust even her family, Hesina turns to Akira—a brilliant investigator who’s also a convicted criminal with secrets of his own. With the future of her kingdom at stake, can Hesina find justice for her father? Or will the cost be too high?
What are you currently reading?
This week was a bit of a whirlwind. Work was jam packed all days of the week but in the end, all the stress and headache paid off greatly for my organisation so I’m glad that everything went well. I know that this non-stop barrage of work demands will continue as December progresses because it’s what always happens when the year ends… It’s a mad headache but, hey ho. I’m definitely looking forward to the end of December and the little time off I have left before the new year rolls around! In comparison this weekend has been pretty chilled. I wasn’t planning on doing anything except my nails (lol) on Saturday but ended up spending the whole day out with my friend and we watched Last Christmas and I LOVED IT! I mean, I had a feeling that I would but I ended up enjoying it so much more. I thought I was just getting a sweet romance with Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding but there was a lot more to the story that, although not entirely unpredictable, still managed to surprise me. Plus their on-screen chemistry is so good–I love that the love interest is Asian and that he’s not the only main Asian character in the story! If you’re looking for a heartwarming holiday story that will tug at your heartstrings and maybe make you shed a tear or two, I would definitely recommend it! Not to mention if you love George Michael then obviously you’ll love this movie 😍
This Sunday was also another really chill day and again, although I didn’t plan to even get out of the house, I did end up spending the majority of the day out! I got my new glasses too, with totally new and funky frames, and *breaks out into song* 🎶 I can see clearly now the blur is gone! 🎶 Haha my eyes have continued to decline but that’s really not surprising considering how much time I spend staring at screens both at work and out of work… 🙈Now I’m ready to tuck back into bed and read until I attempt to knock myself out again!
Reading & Blogging Recap
Once again, my reading hasn’t been out of this world over the last week but I did really enjoy all the books I finished! Also on the upside is that I managed to write reviews for all of the books I finished last week–woot! Now if only I could do the same for the other books I finished previously… Lol next week is the final task for the #Triwizardathon and surprise, surprise, I have no idea what I’ll be reading! I think I will count Darkdawn towards one of the books (if that counts, since I already started it…) but other than that, I haven’t a clue about the books! The prompts are listed below and even though I don’t have to do all these challenges, I want to keep my options open! Does anyone maybe have recommendations?
Challenge 1: You will face many obstacles within the maze, you must complete at least one of these challenges, but may complete as many as you can for extra points.
– Blast-Ended Skrewt: This is a hybrid creature, read a book outside your comfort zone (I might read a NF book for this!)
– Boggart: read a book that contains something you fear. (really not keen on this one tbh lol)
– Acromantula: You may need help to defeat this creature, read a book recommended by a friend. (I was thinking about using Darkdawn for this one… It’s not exactly untrue is it?)
– Golden Mist: This mist turns everything upside down, read a book with something upside down on the cover.
Challenge 2: You made it through the maze, but can you take the cup?
Make sure it’s not a Portkey and read a book that involves travel of any kind for your final challenge to take the cup and complete the Triwizard Tournament!

Right now I’m reading A Wise Mans Fear (the sequel to Name of the Wind) after I finished Name of the Wind I was having difficulty getting into any other story so I had to go buy the sequel. Nothing was living up to it and I wound up in the worst reading slump of the year bc name of the wind was just so good I couldn’t get into other titles. Lol I hope after finishing the sequel I dont have the same problem

I still haven’t read The Wise Man’s Fear but I want to re-read Name of the Wind first since I read it ages back and I want my mind clear of all the details. I think I’m going to put that off though because who knows when the third and final book comes out?! Haha might end up waiting a very long time (hopefully not though)! I totally get that post-amazing-book slump though. I hope TWMF doesn’t send you into another one 🙈 that said, are you enjoying it?

The third book comes out August 20th 2020!! The wise mans fear sent me into a slump after as well. I think the problem is that I’ve had a slew of bad books lately too tho
