We’re back with another Goodreads Monday, a weekly meme started by @Lauren’s Page Turners. This meme invites you to pick a book from your TBR and explain why you want to read it. Easy enough, right? Feel free to join in if you want to! I’ll be using a random number generator to pick my books from my insanely long GR Want-to-read list.
This week’s book is Hunted by Meagan Spooner. I had absolutely no idea that this was even on my list but I did add it in 2017 so… That’s a long enough time for my very spotty memory to completely forget! 😆This is a YA fantasy retelling of Beauty and the Beast and it’s got 3.92 stars with 21,269 ratings and 4,101 reviews.

Beauty knows the Beast’s forest in her bones—and in her blood. Though she grew up with the city’s highest aristocrats, far from her father’s old lodge, she knows that the forest holds secrets and that her father is the only hunter who’s ever come close to discovering them.
So when her father loses his fortune and moves Yeva and her sisters back to the outskirts of town, Yeva is secretly relieved. Out in the wilderness, there’s no pressure to make idle chatter with vapid baronessas…or to submit to marrying a wealthy gentleman. But Yeva’s father’s misfortune may have cost him his mind, and when he goes missing in the woods, Yeva sets her sights on one prey: the creature he’d been obsessively tracking just before his disappearance.
Deaf to her sisters’ protests, Yeva hunts this strange Beast back into his own territory—a cursed valley, a ruined castle, and a world of creatures that Yeva’s only heard about in fairy tales. A world that can bring her ruin or salvation. Who will survive: the Beauty, or the Beast?
Why do I want to read it?
One of my all time favourite Disney movies is Beauty & the Beast. Although I was shit scared of the Beast when I was a little girl (I remember watching the movie with my family when I was eight and literally hiding behind my dad to avoid seeing the Beast on screen), I was swept away by the music, the animated household objects, the incredible magic of the palace, and of course, the gorgeous library. It’s probably no surprise then that I love retellings of this book and this one sounds pretty awesome! This Belle sounds really badass, a huntress?, and I’m intrigued to know that she has sisters, too.
Have you read Hunted or is it on your TBR too?

For some reason this one doesn’t appeal to me even though I love beauty and the beast retellings…could be the cover. I’m not really feeling it!!! 🙈🙈 I am so shallow I know OOOPS!!! 😂😂😂😂
