Yayaya, HAPPY FRIYAY and HAPPY FIRST OF THE MONTH, book lovers and friends 😍We’re back with another First Lines Friday! This is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines? Here are THE RULES:
- Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
- Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
- Finally… reveal the book!

First lines:
We must, by law, keep a record of the innocents we kill.
And as I see it, they’re all innocents. Even the guilty. Everyone is guilty of something, and everyone still harbors a memory of childhood innocence, no matter how many layers of life wrap around it. Humanity is innocent; humanity is guilty, and both states are undeniably true.

Do you recognize the book these first lines come from?

Okay, okay, calm yourself Loki, mate...

*drumroll please!*

The book is: Scythe (Arc of a Scythe #1) by Neal Shusterman

Thou shalt kill.
A world with no hunger, no disease, no war, no misery. Humanity has conquered all those things, and has even conquered death. Now scythes are the only ones who can end life—and they are commanded to do so, in order to keep the size of the population under control.
Citra and Rowan are chosen to apprentice to a scythe—a role that neither wants. These teens must master the “art” of taking life, knowing that the consequence of failure could mean losing their own.

Have you read Scythe or is it on your TBR? Can’t wait for The Toll!

OMG I KNEW THIS ONE, RIGHT FROM THE START. Is that … good or bad? I can’t decide. Maybe I’m a teensy bit too obsessed with this series. xD Naaaah, that’s probably not it.(Three more days, BTW!!!!)

YAAAY! Tbh when I was making the post for this I thought of you and that you’d probably be the only one to get it right away?! Hahaha I’m glad I got that one right! 😂 I reckon I’m just as obsessed as you with this series. 2 days, Sammie!!! 2 days!!!! 😍 My pre-order copy was already shipped to me last week but since I live on this side of the world it’ll take a hot minute to reach me. Tempted to buy the e-book and read it first… Am I crazy?! Haha 🙈

I’m so honored. ❤ TOMORROW, DINI. BE READY FOR ME TO BLOW UP YOUR DMS ON TWITTER. I'm so excited. I better get my preorder tomorrow or I'll be soooo annoyed. I refuse to buy the e-book, because it's almost the same price as the hardcover (which I already bought), but I also want to read it ASAP, dang it.
