The Guilty Reader Book Tag!

Despite having a million tags that I was actually tagged in but haven’t done yet *cough*, I decided that I wanted to do this Guilty Reader Book Tag that I saw on Anniek @ Anniek’s Library a few months ago! It looked like a fun and quick tag to answer and I’m always all for that, especially since I always end up taking forever to answer tags lol

Have you ever re-gifted a book that you’ve been given?

Nope! At least, not that I can remember. But I honestly don’t have a lot of people who read in my life so I wouldn’t re-gift a book as a gift because I don’t really have anyone to give it to πŸ˜… I’ve re-gifted other non-book items though! LOL

Have you ever said you’ve read a book when you haven’t ?

Heh. I mean… We’ve all done this, right?! Most of the time it was for class, but there were times when I was having a discussion with someone who mentioned some classic and… Well, I have to admit that I said I’ve read it when I haven’t πŸ˜‚ But then I did go out and read that book before someone tested my knowledge of it haha

Have you ever borrowed a book and not returned it?

Maybe… It was totally be accident though. I didn’t intentionally keep the book… It was just that I didn’t bring it on the day we were supposed to return it, and then next thing I knew the year was over, and another year was over… and then I’d forget I still haven’t returned it and … it was just too late πŸ˜…

Have you ever read a series out of order?

My first instinct is to say no because why would you do something like that? But then I think about it and realize that sometimes I do read series out of order when the story and characters don’t overlap. So it doesn’t really matter lol but never when it’s a “proper” series!

Have you ever spoiled a book for someone?

NO! Never! I’m pretty sure that I haven’t. I would never do that because I hate when people do that to me. Some people may think it’s funny but no. No, it’s not πŸ˜’

Have you ever dogeared a book?

I can’t lie, I haaaaaave. It doesn’t happen often if at all, but it’s usually when I’m really desperate and don’t have anything on hand and know that I won’t be able to remember the page number where I left off. But… It’s very rare! πŸ˜…

Have you ever told someone you don’t own a book when you do?

No, I don’t believe I have. If I’ve done this it’s probably because I can’t remember whether I do have it or not (or I’m thinking of another book that’s really similar).

Have you ever told someone you haven’t read a book when you have?

YES. This is usually when it comes to romances because I honestly get such judgmental looks and comments when I say I read and enjoy romance. So for a long time I’ve not mentioned or denied that I read these books… πŸ˜’

Have you ever skipped a chapter or a section of a book?

The only times I’ve done this is when I want to DNF a book. I don’t like to DNF but when I really can’t stand the book and want to get through it as quickly as possible, I skip sections and quickly skim chapters.

Have you ever badmouthed a book you actually liked?

My memory is so bad… I really can’t remember if I’ve ever done this but my instinct is to immediately claim no, I haven’t! I honestly can’t see why I would even do such a thing tbh.

I’M TAGGING YOU, LOVELY PERSON READING THIS POST!

    • Haha I know, that was my thought too. But actually, I used to keep reading romances on the DL and I probably might’ve badmouthed it before but only because I didn’t want to admit that I read them? Because I get so judged for it… But lol I don’t think I’ve actually badmouthed a book I totally love πŸ˜‚

  2. HA! Great answers- honesty is a good thing. I’ll die on my hills be damned. Forget dog eared- I’ve written in so many books. Unless it is one that is a special edition or hardcopy – I have no issues taking notes and writing in books. I don’t care who thinks what I like what I like. I’m not going to bath mouth it. Why would someone read a book out of order? Unless you consider SAB trilogy/SOC duology one long series- but I don’t think people do? Or you started to, not realizing it, but I would think that would get confusing fast and you’d go check and stop because- brain hurt?

I give away books all the time- arcs i don’t like or I know I’m done with and gonna buy. Books I read, liked but don’t care to keep. Some hell no but if others – not gift like wrapped gifts but just here- have it.

I skim and skip because of my romance issues. Or if a book starts getting bogged- and then either it gets DNFd or I finish it and note it in the review. I have unintentionally spoiled books in tags and/or because for some reason I thought someone read a book and they hadn’t OR on twitter– not with new releases because duh– but like say with SOC or something that’s been out and you just think everyone who wants to read it has- and then someone says something and you feel like crap at the bottom of the burgecanal (spelling)?

  3. Aww Dini I love reading romance too! I also had a phase of not mentioning that I read it as people can be quite judgemental about it. I love the cuteness of it as well as the fact that it’s not usually a genre that requires active reading. I love sitting back with some wine and just relaxing with a sweet and sappy romance ❀ Jen

    • Yaaas, one of the things that I love most about being part of the book community is really seeing how other people love romance too. I still do get shy sometimes to admit that I love romance, but at the end of the day, we all like what we like, so πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈif people have issues with it that’s their prob not mine! Lol Romances give me all the feels! πŸ’™

  4. I used to think dog-earing was this HORRIBLE THING, but it actually doesn’t really hurt the book, imo, haha. I’ve done it recently when I was reading on the train, or at uni, and I wanted to somehow mark the pages that had quotes I liked/wanted to include in my review. I’ve also been thinking of annotating books, but I’m not quite ready to write in them, I think.

I’ve definitely told people I don’t own a book when in fact I do, haha. If someone I barely know is asking to borrow them, I’ll lie right to their face, saying I don’t have it. I like lending out books to my FRIENDS, but people I barely know? Nah. I really enjoyed this tag, so I may have to do it, too. πŸ˜€ Great post!
