Top 5 Saturday: My Favourite Cover Buys

Welcome back to another Top 5 Saturday! Just in case you don’t know Top 5 Saturday is a weekly meme created by Mandy @ Devouring Books and it’s where we list the top five books (they can be books on your TBR, favourite books, books you loved/hated) based on the week’s topic. You can see the upcoming schedule at the end of my post πŸ™‚ This week’s topic is actually: cover buys.

Listen, we all claim to not judge books by their covers but let’s be real–we totally do and we’re not alone in doing so! And sometimes, when we get a little book crazy, we do buy books based on their covers. Well, I guess I should just speak for myself on that one πŸ˜…

I think this week’s topic is pretty self-explanatory. While all of these titles were eye-catching because of their gorgeous covers, I did eventually read the synopsis to make sure that I wasn’t just throwing my money away like it grows on trees πŸ˜‚ These are probably the most beautiful books on my shelf and although I still need to read them (heh…😬), I have zero regrets about indulging in a little splurge for them! We all deserve to treat ourselves now and again, right? So without further ado…

Top 5 Saturday: Books with Two Authors

Welcome back to another Top 5 Saturday! Just in case you don’t know Top 5 Saturday is a weekly meme created by Mandy @ Devouring Books and it’s where we list the top five books (they can be books on your TBR, favourite books, books you loved/hated) based on the week’s topic. You can see the upcoming schedule at the end of my post πŸ™‚ This week’s topic is actually: books with two authors.

I think the first book that I read written by two authors was the Illuminae Files. Actually, it was probably Christina Lauren before I even knew they were two people πŸ˜‚ But I don’t read a lot of books that are written by two authors although I do have a surprising number of them on my TBR! I’m gonna keep this introduction short and simple and there’s really no need for a lengthy introduction πŸ˜‰

Top 5 Saturday: Books with Vampires

πŸπŸŽƒ HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!! πŸŽƒπŸ

You can see the upcoming schedule at the end of my post πŸ™‚ This week’s topic is actually: vampires.

This topic was actually a tough one to answer because I honestly haven’t read that many books with vampires and neither is it usually what I gravitate towards. The same goes with other supernatural creatures too though, like werewolves. I’ve enjoyed the very few that I read (even Twilight all those years ago) but I don’t actively seek them out. I do still have a few books with vampires on my TBR though and I am looking forward to checking them out at some point, especially the ever popular Dracula! So without further ado…

Top 5 Saturday: Books on my Wishlist

Welcome back to another Top 5 Saturday! Just in case you don’t know Top 5 Saturday is a weekly meme created by Mandy @ Devouring Books and it’s where we list the top five books (they can be books on your TBR, favourite books, books you loved/hated) based on the week’s topic. You can see the upcoming schedule at the end of my post πŸ™‚ This week’s topic is actually: wishlist.

Wishlists! I’m actually not very good at making them and keeping them up to date. Unlike my Goodreads TBR, which has all the books under the sun that I want to read, I very rarely remember to mark a book for my wishlist when browsing either Amazon and/or Book Depository, and more often than not, only remember to do so after I’ve closed everything and am thus too lazy to go back and mark them πŸ˜‚ Yay for my bank but I guess but boo for those who want to buy me books? (Just kidding, no one wants to buy me books lmao). But anyway, before I manage to wind on even longer, here are five books that are on my Book Depository wishlist! πŸ˜‰

Top 5 Saturday: Animal on the Cover!

Welcome back to another Top 5 Saturday! You can see the upcoming schedule at the end of my post πŸ™‚ This week’s topic is actually: animal on the cover!

I don’t think this prompt needs a big introduction so I’m going to keep it short and sweet. I’m a big animal lover (I mean, hello pandas) so it’s no surprise that I love a cover that has an animal or many animals on the cover! These five books are on my TBR and cover a few genres from YA fantasy, MG fantasy and contemporary/literary fiction. I’m looking forward to reading all of them πŸ™‚

Top 5 Saturday: Feminist Themes

Welcome back to another Top 5 Saturday! Just in case you don’t know Top 5 Saturday is a weekly meme created by Mandy @ Devouring Books and it’s where we list the top five books (they can be books on your TBR, favourite books, books you loved/hated) based on the week’s topic. You can see the upcoming schedule at the end of my post πŸ™‚ This week’s topic is actually: feminist themes!

Saturday has come and gone and I’ve only just realised that I never finished my post πŸ™ƒ So, I’m going to keep it short and simple today. I think the topic speaks for itself! But really who doesn’t love a good empowering read about women rising up against the patriarchy or simply advocating for women everywhere by speaking up about experiences that we all face? All of these are on my TBR and I’m looking forward to reading them all, but especially Roxane Gay’s book and of course, Michelle Obama’s book 😍

Top 5 Saturday: Intimidating Books

Welcome back to another Top 5 Saturday! Just in case you don’t know Top 5 Saturday is a weekly meme created by Mandy @ Devouring Books and it’s where we list the top five books (they can be books on your TBR, favourite books, books you loved/hated) based on the week’s topic. You can see the upcoming schedule at the end of my post πŸ™‚ This week’s topic is actually: intimidating books!

When I first saw this prompt my mind immediately went to the classics and tomes (and classic tomes) because those are truly some of the most intimidating books on my shelves! But I feel like I’ve answered this before and I think that whenever I get asked about intimidating books my go-to answer (classics/tomes) is always the same. So I decided to not look at classics this week and share some of the other intimidating books on my TBR and the reasons why they scare me 😝

Top 5 Saturday: Award Winning Books

Welcome back to another Top 5 Saturday! Just in case you don’t know Top 5 Saturday is a weekly meme created by Mandy @ Devouring Books and it’s where we list the top five books (they can be books on your TBR, favourite books, books you loved/hated) based on the week’s topic. You can see the upcoming schedule at the end of my post πŸ™‚ This week’s topic is actually: award winning books!

Ooh, this is a tough but fun prompt! I gotta admit that I don’t pay close attention to which books win which prizes, so it took a bit of digging to find what on my TBR fit the bill. I’m surprised to say that I actually have quite a few award winning books on my shelves! These are books that I saw hyped up through book clubs (like Oprah’s and Reese’s) and mainly through gorgeous pictures on bookstagram. They’re also mostly a departure from my go-to YA SFF and Romances and are contemporary/literary fiction books that I do enjoy and can be a good challenge to read, but sometimes they also go over my head. πŸ˜… That said, I’ve picked five from my TBR that I’m really looking forward to reading in the (hopefully) near future!

Top 5 Saturday: Science Fiction Books

Welcome back to another Top 5 Saturday! Just in case you don’t know Top 5 Saturday is a weekly meme created by Mandy @ Devouring Books and it’s where we list the top five books (they can be books on your TBR, favourite books, books you loved/hated) based on the week’s topic. You can see the upcoming schedule at the end of my post πŸ™‚ This week’s topic is actually: science fiction books!

Oof, do I have a lot of these or do I really have a lot of these on my TBR? πŸ˜… I found a love for SF books when I first started reading Michael Crichton’s books back in 2010. I can’t even remember when I started reading more SFF but I do have quite a few that I’ve added to my TBR, especially in the last year+, thanks to all your wonderful recommendations. The five below are ones I already have on my physical/digital libraries and they’re just waiting to be read… (lol what’s new) I have to admit that I’m most excited to get to Becky Chambers’ books because I’ve heard endlessly good things about them!

Top 5 Saturday: Young Adult Detective Books

Welcome back to another Top 5 Saturday! Just in case you don’t know Top 5 Saturday is a weekly meme created by Mandy @ Devouring Books and it’s where we list the top five books (they can be books on your TBR, favourite books, books you loved/hated) based on the week’s topic. You can see the upcoming schedule at the end of my post πŸ™‚ This week’s topic is actually: detective books but I really wanted to do last week’s topic on Young Adult Books and I’m sad that I missed it. So I decided that I would combine the two topics this week to share: Young Adult Detective Books!

After making the decision to focus on YA Detective Books I realised that I wasn’t even sure I had (m)any on my TBR in the first place! Luckily, after a quick sweep through my Kindle shelves and my Goodreads TBR, I’ve managed to find a few. A lot of these are pretty hyped and popular titles although one is a much older release from 2014 but I only added it to my TBR last year. I’ve had the majority of these on my shelf for at least one year? So I’m hoping that I can get to at least a few at some point this year!
