The End of Year Book Tag – 2025 Edition

As with every year, I end up putting this off for far longer than I mean to. 😂 This year has just been absolute chaos, and I’m kind of shocked that we’ve already reached the end of it. So, it’s time for the End of the Year Book Tag — 2025 Edition! After the absolute madness this year, I’m kind of scared about what’s coming in 2026, but I’m also hopeful that it will be much better! 🤞🏽

Let’s get on to the book tag now and see what’s up with 2025…

This tag was originally created by booktuber Ariel Bissett.

Are there any books you started this year that you need to finish?

Oh, yes. My “paused” shelf on my Notion tracker has been steadily growing throughout the year! 😅 I’m going to narrow it down to the top 5 that I hope to finish before the year ends.

Do you have an autumnal book to transition into the end of the year?

Same answer as previous years, I’m not much of a seasonal reader, but I think I read a few books this year that make good transition reads!

Is there a new release that you’re still waiting for?

I honestly can’t think of any new releases I’m still waiting for at this point! I don’t think there are…

What are three books you want to read before the year ends?

At this point, I have no idea what I’m likely to read before the year ends because my reading mood has been all over the place! That said, it would be pretty nice if my mood could pick up so that I can read these three books… At least!

Is there a book that you think could still shock you and become your favourite of the year?

There are a couple of 2025 releases that I think have high potential to become my favourite this year. I think of the few I’m thinking of, two of them would be the biggest contenders and they are: The Everlasting by Alix E. Harrow and Blood Over Bright Haven by M.L. Wang.

The Everlasting by Alix E. Harrow, Blood Over Brighthaven by M.L. Wang

As I’ve mentioned though, my mood and focus has been all over the place so I don’t know if I should pick them this year. I’m currently attempting to read the latter but I’m just feeling very confused with the magic speak right now and that makes me a bit sad? Haha. 😂

Have you already started to make reading plans for 2026?

I actually do have some reading plans for 2026 already. Unsurprisingly, I don’t have many ARCs to read because I’ve almost completely stopped reading them this year and have been very selective with them. I currently have one 2026 ARC to read, that said, I still have tons of backlist ones to get to! 🫣

I’m currently decided on one year-long reading challenge (Buzzword (Title) Challenge) but I’m not sure what other one I’ll do (or if I’ll do another one). Other than that though, Leslie and I are hosting a massive group read for Dungeon Crawler Carl! We’re doing all seven books until the release of the eighth—starting with books 1 and 2 in January! 🎉 I can’t wait to dive back into the books and see what I missed the first time around, lol.

I’m not tagging anyone but I’d love to see your answers if you do it! How was your reading in 2025? Are there any books that you hope to get to before the year ends? Any that could possibly be a new favourite?

The End of Year Book Tag – 2024 Edition

I put this off for as long as I could out of fear I’d miss my next new favourite but with two weeks to go until the year ends, the time has finally come to do the End of Year Book Tag — 2024 edition! I still can’t believe we’ve reached the end of another year and I’m almost terrified to know how quickly 2025 will fly by! But I digress.

Let’s get on to the book tag now and see what my 2024 reading year was like…

Are there any books you started this year that you need to finish?

I was doing so well with cleaning out my “currently reading” shelf all year but I’ve got five books on there now. I’m hopeful about finishing at least 4 of these before the year ends but I’m not sure about the chonkiest one of the lot.

Do you have an autumnal book to transition into the end of the year?

I’m not much of a seasonal reader nor do I often re-read so I don’t have a “go-to” book to transition into the end of the year. I did read a few this year that were wonderfully atmospheric options though:

Is there a new release that you’re still waiting for?

I honestly didn’t have a clue about what was being released in December before this book tag. The only book on my radar was A Cruel Thirst and I was lucky enough to read an ARC (I recommend it if you’re looking for a fun historical paranormal romance romp—you can check out my review here). Here are a couple other titles that piqued my interest… 🤭

What are three books you want to read before the year ends?

Of the titles that aren’t on my “currently reading” shelf, these are three titles I hope I can squeeze in before the year ends.

Is there a book that you think could still shock you and become your favourite of the year?

Oh gosh, this is tough because I’m really not sure what I plan to read for the rest of the year… I’m going to leave this blank for now because I really can’t think of anything that I plan to read that could end up as a top favourite. 🫣 (oop, boring answer—sorry!)

Have you already started to make reading plans for 2025?

Surprisingly, yes! I tend to kind of wing most things but I’ve been thinking a lot about the reading challenges that I want to take part in next year. I was also emailed about a few YA releases that sound incredible and I’m keen to check out. I’m also making plans for buddy and group reads to tackle the backlist and Owlcrate editions (plus, I’m thinking about doing an Illumicrate editions buddy/group read if there’s interest for it). Lots of exciting things in the pipeline! 😊

I’m not tagging anyone but I’d love to see your answers if you do it! How was your reading in 2024? Are there any books that you hope to get to before the year ends? Any that could possibly be a new favourite?

The End of Year Book Tag – 2023 Edition

It’s that time of the year when we start wrapping things up again and to kick things off this year I’ll be doing the End of Year Book Tag! I’ve been seeing more people do it lately which reminded me of its existence and since I’ve loved doing it in previous years, I thought why not? It’s been a minute since I did a tag, too. If you’re curious to see how my previous years went check out my 2019, 2020, and 2022 editions.

This tag was originally created by booktuber Ariel Bissett.

Are there any books you started this year that you need to finish?

There are a couple of books I started this year and still want to finish. At the top of that list are Rival Radio by Kathryn Nolan and Heartbreaker by Sarah MacLean.

Do you have an autumnal book to transition into the end of the year?

I’m not much of a seasonal reader so I don’t have a “go-to” book that I read to transition into the end of the year. I read a couple of fun ones this year though including:

Is there a new release that you’re still waiting for?

I actually have paid so little attention to releases this year because I just didn’t have the headspace. 😭 But these are a few of the December 2023 releases that came out last week that I’m looking forward to reading!

What are three books you want to read before the year ends?

Is there a book that you think could still shock you and become your favourite of the year?

It’s been a tough reading year for me with a handful of books that have stood out but only one or two that really made it onto my new all-time faves list. I think A River Enchanted and Before I Let Go have the potential to be new favourites… Whether they become the favourite of the year? Well, we’ll see! 😂

Have you already started to make reading plans for 2024?

I was lucky to get my hands on a couple of ARCs for 2024 releases by BIPOC authors and I’m so looking forward to reading all of them! I’m also obsessed with all of these covers. Like, can we just sit here and appreciate them? 😍

I’m not tagging anyone this time but if you feel like doing it, feel free to link back so I can check out your answers! How was your reading in 2023? Discover any new all-time faves? Have you read any of these or are they also on your TBR?

The End of Year Book Tag – 2022 Edition

Hello, friends! We’ve reached the final month of another year so that means it’s time to share another End of Year Book Tag – 2022 Edition! I’ve done this tag in 2019 and 2020 (not sure what happened in 2021!) but it’s always fun to do. This time I got tagged by the lovely Becky @Becky’s Book Blog, who is a fantastic blogger especially if you love fantasy because she comes with all the recs, so be sure to check out her blog. Thanks for the tag, Becky! 💜

This tag was originally created by booktuber Ariel Bissett!

Are there any books you started this year that you need to finish?

There are actually two books sitting on my “Currently Reading” list on Goodreads. I started both in June/July but wasn’t in the right mood to keep reading them although I do want to finish both.

Do you have an autumnal book to transition into the end of the year?

As a non-seasonal reader, I’m kind of surprised to admit that this year I found an excellent series of books to transition into the end of the year. The Stay a Spell paranormal romance series has featured a lot on my blog lately but I just love it so much, plus it has a lovely holiday themed collection of short stories from these characters to complete the transition to the holiday season!

Is there a new release that you’re still waiting for?

I was gonna say no until I checked my 2022 releases list and saw that there are four books still releasing in December that I’m looking forward to reading! I’m sure there are others that I just haven’t marked yet, lol.

What are three books you want to read before the year ends?

Is there a book that you think could still shock you and become your favourite of the year?

Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin

If the hype is right—and ngl, I sure hope it is—then I think this book has potential to become a favourite this year but I’m unsure if it’ll become the favourite of the year. Let’s see! 😉

Have you already started to make reading plans for 2023?

I do have two blog tours already planned but I actually just got two emails with very exciting invitations to read upcoming YA contemporaries and fantasies and I’m debating accepting a few of those soon!

I’m tagging:

**No pressure if you don’t feel like doing it though!

That’s it for the 2022 End of Year Book Tag! I hope you all have a fantastic last month of the year!

The End of Year Book Tag – 2020 Edition

I did my first End of Year Book Tag for 2019* and in what I’m guessing will become a yearly tradition now, I’ve come back to it again in 2020 as we’ve got one week left to go until this hot mess of a year comes to an end! I pretty much said the same thing last year (and basically in my posts for the last few weeks) but I can’t believe this year is coming to an end already! It felt like it took forever but also no time at all. Now without further ado, let’s get into this tag!

*I’m still not quite sure who made this tag but I did find it on Jenn @ Jenniely’s page.

Are there any books you started this year that you need to finish?

I won’t be counting my actual ‘current reads’ list but even not counting those, I do have a fair few that I started but wasn’t in the right mood for at the time, so I put them aside–it’s not at all because I wasn’t enjoying them though (honestly)! I’m still keen to get back to these ASAP.

Do you have an autumnal book to transition into the end of the year?

Confused man’s face with mouth hanging open (that is literally me rn)

Still not really sure that I get this question. I mean, it’s not autumn anymore but also, no I don’t have any particular book that I read to transition into the ‘end of the year mode’!

is there a new release that you’re still waiting for?

I was going to say no but then I remembered Love at the Icicle Café, which I added to my TBR just last week and it’s only out on 29 December, so I guess there is one I’m still waiting for in 2020 😂 The rest have all come out and what a year it has been!

what are three books you want to read before the year ends?

Hmm… I’m going to pick one from the list of books that I need to finish: Clap When You Land, but the other two are The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue and The Dragon Republic (before diving immediately into TBG)!

is there a book that you think could still shock you and become your favourite of the year?

Ngl, if I do manage to read The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue before the year ends, I think that there’s a very high possibility it could end up being my favourite. Based on what others have said about it I have a feeling I’m going to really really love it and omg, I can’t wait to read it!

have you already started to make reading plans for 2021?

I was going to say no but then I do already have a few blog tours lined up for January so I guess I do 😂 These are just some of the titles I’m on a tour for and I’m excited to give them a go!

Aaand that’s a wrap, folks! Well, that ended up being a lot shorter than I thought it’d be 🤣 Why did I think this tag was miles long when I did it last year? LOL. Anyway, I’m not going to tag anyone specifically but if you wanna do it, feel free to link back to me so I can check out your answers!

The End of the Year Book Tag – 2019 Edition!

I wasn’t tagged to do this one but I first saw it on Jenn @ Jenniely’s page and immediately thought I’d love to do it, especially after doing the Mid-Year Book Freak Out Tag! I really can’t believe it’s the end of the year already. We’ve got less than one week until we’re ringing in 2020, friends! How is it even possible when sometimes it still feels like February only just ended the other day?! Craziness… Anyway, without further ado, let’s get to it!

Are there any books you started this year that you need to finish?

I started The Goldfinch during The Worst Reading Slump of 2019. It was a bad time for my mental health and now whenever I think of picking it up again, I just feel dread… I wanted to read Good Omens before the show came out but I wasn’t in the mood for it and it was tough to concentrate. The same goes for My Lovely Wife! I hope I can at least finish one of these before 2019 ends!

Do you have an autumnal book to transition into the end of the year?

I’m… Not sure what this means? An autumnal book? But… It’s not autumn? Or am I just confusing myself? Lol

Is there a new release you’re still waiting for?

I’m taking this question to mean are there any more books that are coming out that you’re looking forward to and the answer would be no! 2019 has been an incredible year for books but there’s nothing else I’m waiting on now!

What are three books you want to read before the year ends?

If I really only had to pick three of the many, it’d be these: The Queen of Nothing (I just finished TWK and I’m not putting this off anymore!), The Toll and Well Met!

Is there a book that you think could still shock you and become your favorite of the year?

Ooh, I feel like this is a pretty tough question to answer because I’m not even sure if I can say what my favorite of the year is! I’m notoriously bad at making these kinds of decisions. I’m thinking of all the books that I still want to read before 2020 (beyond the three above) and I think there’s a strong possibility for one of them to be a contender… I’m not going to name which book though because I don’t want to jinx myself 🤪

Have you already started making reading plans for 2020?

I’m surprised to say YES to this question! In previous years I’ve never really made plans for reading but now that I have a blog and am participating in blog tours and have eARCs to read before certain dates, I’m hoping to get better organised by setting up a proper calendar for when I need to finish books! I really want to get on top of my eARCs (NetGalley mostly) in 2020 because then I won’t feel so guilty requesting more books to read 🤣

And that’s a wrap folks! I still can’t believe 2019 is pretty much over. I still have to think about my favorite books of the year and that’s for sure going to be a tough one since I’ve never read so many books in one year until now 🤣 I think I’m looking forward to the challenge though! Let’s see if I’m saying that by the end of it lol

I TAG

It’s okay if you don’t like tags or don’t feel like doing this one. No pressure at all! Also, even if you’re not tagged and want to do it, consider yourself officially tagged! Don’t forget to link back so I can see your answers 😉
