Clap When You Landย meetsย On the Come Upย in this heart-gripping story about navigating first love and overcoming grief through the power of music.

Aarรณn Medrano has been haunted by the onstage persona of his favorite musician ever since his mother passed away. He seems to know all of Aarรณnโ€™s deepest fears, like that his brain doesnโ€™t work the way it should and thatโ€™s why his brother and father seems to be pushing him away. He thinks his ticket out is a scholarship to the prestigious Acadia School of Music. That is, if he can avoid blowing his audition.

Mia Villanueva has a haunting of her own and itโ€™s the only family heirloom her parents left her: doubt. Itโ€™s the reason she canโ€™t overcome her stage fright or believe that her music is worth making. Even though her trumpet teacher tells her she has a gift, sheโ€™s not sure if sheโ€™ll ever figure out how to use it or if sheโ€™s even deserving of it in the first place.

When Aarรณn and Mia cross paths, Aarรณn sees a chance to get close to the girl heโ€™s had a crush on for years and to finally feel connected to someone since losing his mother. Mia sees a chance to hold herself accountable by making them both face their fears, and hopefully make their dreams come true. But soon theyโ€™ll realize thereโ€™s something much scarier than getting up on stageโ€”falling in love with a broken heart.

A tale set amid the 1956 Hungarian revolution in post-WWII Communist Budapest.

In the middle of Budapest, there is a river. Csilla knows the river is magic. During WWII, the river kept her family safe when they needed it mostโ€“safe from the Holocaust. But that was before the Communists seized power. Before her parents were murdered by the Soviet police. Before Csilla knew things about her fatherโ€™s legacy that she wishes she could forget.

Now Csilla keeps her head down, planning her escape from this country that has never loved her the way she loves it. But her carefully laid plans fall to pieces when her parents are unexpectedly, publicly exonerated. As the protests in other countries spur talk of a larger revolution in Hungary, Csilla must decide if she believes in the promise and magic of her deeply flawed country enough to risk her life to help save it, or if she should let it burn to the ground.

Judy I. Linโ€™s sweeping debut A Magic Steeped in Poison, first in a duology, is sure to enchant fans of Adrienne Young and Leigh Bardugo.
I used to look at my hands with pride. Now all I can think is, โ€œThese are the hands that buried my mother.โ€

For Ning, the only thing worse than losing her mother is knowing that itโ€™s her own fault. She was the one who unknowingly brewed the poison tea that killed herโ€”the poison tea that now threatens to also take her sister, Shu.

When Ning hears of a competition to find the kingdomโ€™s greatest shennong-shiโ€”masters of the ancient and magical art of tea-makingโ€”she travels to the imperial city to compete. The winner will receive a favor from the princess, which may be Ningโ€™s only chance to save her sisterโ€™s life.

But between the backstabbing competitors, bloody court politics, and a mysterious (and handsome) boy with a shocking secret, Ning might actually be the one in more danger.

As a refinement tutor, Mrs. Juno Langton helps young ladies develop the skills and confidence to secure an advantageous marriage. Her cheerful disposition never wavers no matter how challenging her assignment. When a house party provides an opportunity to match her difficult charge with a duke, Juno will go to any lengths to satisfy her employer and ensure the young ladyโ€™s future. Too bad the duke is an unsmiling, rigid grouch, albeit an irritatingly handsome one.

The Duke of Warrington dislikes social gatherings and despises the Marriage Mart which makes it nigh impossible to find a wife. He plans to secure his future duchess at a house party, but sheโ€™s being managed by a thoroughly meddlesomeโ€”and provocativeโ€”Mrs. Langton, who is determined to find his better nature. Heโ€™ll do anything to avoid her sunny charm and room-brightening smiles, but sheโ€™s breaking through his shell and the only way he can think to keep her quiet is to kiss her. He must marry the young lady, not desire the companion.

But now heโ€™s rethinking his wife choices.

TL;DR: I’ve come to really enjoy Darcy Burke’s books ever since discovering her historical romances last year and The Rigid Duke was no different. It was an enjoyable grumpy/sunshine romance that’s slightly more sex than plot but was a quick and entertaining read that delivers a sweet HEA!

“I’m pregnant.”

That’s what my teammate’s sister-in-law told me after our one-night stand.

I didn’t expect to see Hollis again, let alone end up raising a child with her.

We set some ground rules–we’ll raise the baby together, but that’s it.
No relationship, no future, and definitely no kissing.

But the more time we spend together, the harder it is to keep track of where the lines were once drawn.

I’m known for my one-timer on and off the ice, but this game with Hollis just got a lot more complicated…

All it takes is one missed step for your life to change forever.

Luca Mason knows exactly who he is and what he wants: In six months, heโ€™s going to be accepted into the Australian Ballet School, leave his fancy private high school, and live his life as a star of the stageโ€”at least thatโ€™s the plan until he falls down a flight of stairs and breaks his foot in a way he can never recover from.

With his dancing dreams dead on their feet, Luca loses his performing arts scholarship and transfers to the local public school, leaving behind all his ballet friends and his whole future on stage.

The only bright side is that he strikes up unlikely friendships with the nicest (and nerdiest) girl at his new school, Amina, and the gorgeous, popular, and (reportedly) straight school captain, Jordan Tanaka-Jones.

As Lucaโ€™s bond with Jordan grows stronger, he starts to wonder: who is he without ballet? And is he setting himself up for another heartbreak?

Watch things start to really heat up in the kitchen in this sweet, queer, new adult graphic novel!

Now that college is over, English graduate Ben Cook is on the job hunt looking for somethingโ€ฆanythingโ€ฆrelated to his passion for reading and writing. But interview after interview, hiring committee after hiring committee, Ben soon learns getting the dream job wonโ€™t be as easy as he thought. Proofreading? Journalism? Copywriting? Not enough experience. It turns out he doesnโ€™t even have enough experience to be a garbage collector! But when Ben stumbles upon a โ€œNow Hiringโ€”No Experience Necessaryโ€ sign outside a restaurant, he jumps at the chance to land his first job. Plus, he can keep looking for a writing job in the meantime. Heโ€™s actually not so bad in the kitchen, but he will have to pass a series of cooking tests to prove heโ€™s got the culinary skills to stay on full-time. But itโ€™s only temporaryโ€ฆright?

When Ben begins developing a crush on Liam, one of the other super dreamy chefs at the restaurant, and when he starts ditching his old college friends and his old writing job plans, his career path starts to become much less clear.

TL;DR: This was an absolute treat to read and I would highly recommend it if you’re looking for a wonderfully illustrated graphic novel about new beginnings and finding your way in the world, with wonderful characters and great friendships that are sure to make you smile!

High Fantasy with a double-shot of self-reinvention

Worn out after decades of packing steel and raising hell, Viv the orc barbarian cashes out of the warriorโ€™s life with one final score. A forgotten legend, a fabled artifact, and an unreasonable amount of hope lead her to the streets of Thune, where she plans to open the first coffee shop the city has ever seen.

However, her dreams of a fresh start pulling shots instead of swinging swords are hardly a sure bet. Old frenemies and Thuneโ€™s shady underbelly may just upset her plans. To finally build something that will last, Viv will need some new partners and a different kind of resolve.

A hot cup of fantasy slice-of-life with a dollop of romantic froth.

TL;DR: If you’re looking for a feel-good fantasy that’s full of cosy emotion and a heartwarming message, and immersive writing that will make you feel like you’re right there at this cafe with its wonderful found family of characters, then I would immediately recommend getting your hands on a copy of this book! Trust me when I say you won’t regret it. Also, snacks. Bring snacks!
