#WWWWednesday: 26 August 2026

Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

Since last Wednesday, I’ve finished another 4 books

The Road to Tender Hearts by Annie Hartnett ★★★★½
The Road to Tender Hearts played out like one of those ‘family dramedy” movies in my head. It’s full of messy people and messy times. It’s maddening and heartbreaking, but also oddly hilarious, ridiculous, and hopeful. I don’t think this book will be for everyone since the characters are often a lot and the humour is also dark, but I can see the readers of Fredrik Backman, Shelby van Pelt, and Toshikazu Kawaguchi enjoying this as I feel it’s a good mash of those book styles.

Dungeons and Dramas (Gaming and Romance #1) by Kristy Boyce ★★★★½
I adored this YA contemporary romance and I feel like I haven’t said that about a YA book in a very long time. I even managed to write a review about it (yay!) so you can check it out here.

The Unbroken (The Magic of the Lost #1) by C. L. Clark ★★½
Welp, Becky and I were so excited for this buddy read but both of us wound up really not loving it! 😅 The majority of our discussions were rants about how we wanted so much more—more depth, emotion, and connection. It constantly felt like we were getting somewhere interesting, only for the author to pull back just when I wanted to dig deeper. I kept hoping my feelings would change as I continued reading, but instead I found myself becoming increasingly frustrated—especially with our MCs. I don’t usually post negative rant reviews on my blog, but I need to let this out so… One is coming! I just need to trim it a lot and clean it up for public viewing cos I went off, hah. 🙃

Dungeons & Dimwits: Issue 1 by James Mascia ★★★★¼
This MG fantasy graphic novel was such a fun time! I really enjoyed navigating this new world with this group of friends and completing their first quest with them. I’m pretty sure that if I got sucked into one of my favourite games (Zelda) I would die almost immediately, so props to them for surviving, lol. Check out my review here.

I’ve got two reads on at the minute! Both are actually re-reads but one is also a buddy read!

  • Cemetery Boys(82%) ⇢ I’ve been meaning to re-read Cemetery Boys for ages but I kept putting it off until now. There’s truly no better incentive than the fact I got on the blog tour for book two, Espiritu, which is out in early September! I love Julian and Yadriel! 💜 This has been such an enjoyable re-read that I could’ve easily finished in one sitting (but then life).
  • Malice(24%)Leslie and I are finally re-reading Malice so we can continue (and hopefully finish) the Faithful and the Fallen series. Although we only read it 4 years ago, I can’t remember a single thing about it, so it’s still pretty much like reading it for the first time! It’s definitely a slow-burn and there are so many character and place names to get straight, but things are falling more easily into place now as I’m reading! I can’t wait to see where this goes cos I already know it’s gonna be epic!

I’ve got another read coming up but let’s see where the mood takes me!

What are you currently reading? I hope you’re enjoying whatever book you’ve picked up, friends!
