Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:
- What did you read last?
- What are you currently reading?
- What will you read next?

Since last Wednesday, I’ve finshed 4 books. This is probably the most I’ve read in a week in ages so I’m quite proud of myself! 😊

Swordheart (Swordheart #1) by T. Kingfisher ★★★★½
And no one is surprised that I absolutely adored this book! It took me ages to read it but that’s definitely down to my volatile reading moods as of late (and gaming—definitely blaming gaming). But of course, I loved Halla and Sarkis, Zale and Brindle. Loved meeting the new characters and reconnecting with the old (and by that I mean I first met them in The Saint of Steel series).
Sunday’s Best by Bailey Hannah ★★★★☆
For a little novella, for the angst and pining, for the heat, I would say this was a pretty fun sexy romance. It does feature tropes that I’m not normally into so I was a little nervous going in, but honestly, everyone got what they deserved and I’ll leave it at that! I’m definitely more curious about this author’s books now—they’ve been on my radar for a little while but I’ve never really heard anyone talking about them. If they’re anything like this novella though, I think I’ll enjoy them!
Never After by Alexis Hall ★★★★★
I’m a person that’s often deep in my feels and that translates to when I’m reading too, so naturally, I’m a very “emotional” reader. This absolutely gutted me. Alexis Hall took some emotional claws, raked it through my chest, and dug around a little bit before retracting said claws. Holy granola, the way this had me ugly crying at 3am on a Wednesday. It hurt so good! Again, while the romance is a huge part of the story, this isn’t a romance. It’s gut wrenching, heartbreaking, so deeply vulnerable, and gorgeously written. It is also narrated incredibly by Steve West and, if you enjoy audiobooks and are curious about this book, I would 1000% recommend doing the audio. His performance is stellar and probably made me love this even more!
In the Labyrinth of Drakes (The Memoirs of Lady Trent #4) by Marie Brennan ★★★★¼
I’m not sure what to rate this yet, but I’m sticking with this for now. This was the shortest book of the series but probably the one I most wanted more of! As always, there’s so much that happens and it was so fantastic being back with Isabella and Tom. There was some delightful pining and angst in this that I thoroughly enjoyed! I also loved that we got to spend time with the brother that Isabella actually enjoys spending time with. He was such a welcome addition to the crew! As a group, Leslie, Charlotte, Veros and I discussed how it gave us The Mummy vibes—from setting, characters and banter, action, and discoveries—and I think it’s such an apt comparison! We’re all very sad that there’s only one more book to go before we reach the end… 😭

I’ve only got one read on at the minute!

The Unbroken (The Magic of the Lost #1) by C. L. Clark ⇢ (64%)
I’m buddy reading this with Becky and we’re having very mixed feelings about it. We’ve talked over it quite a bit and it seems like everything just skims the surface, so we don’t get the depth needed to connect with and care for these characters. I love that the MCs are so incredibly complex, but also, they are so frustratingly indecisive I want to give both a good hard shake. 😂 Their actions make them come across much younger than they are!

Not sure where the mood will take me!

What are you currently reading? I hope you’re enjoying whatever book you’ve picked up, friends!

Our Wives Under the Sea has been one of my favorite reads this year! If the mood takes you that way, I hope that you enjoy it!

You SHOULD be proud, you did soooo well, congrats!
I do not see any Kingfisher book in your next reads, that is weird😂
I am also not sure what I’ll read next. I’m in a romance streak but I want to add a light fantasy read and I cannot come up with anything. Hope you have fun with whatever you pick!
