#WWWWednesday: 8 July 2026

Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

Since last week I managed to finish 1 book. Kind of surprising because I feel like I’ve been reading, but I guess I’ve been reading more bits and pieces of multiple books than actually getting through many. ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ Thankfully, I really enjoyed the one book I finished.

Of Owls and Oolong (Owls, Tea Shops, and Other Magical Nuisances #1) by Shari L. Tapscott โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜†

I don’t even know what I was searching for when this came across my radar, but I’m glad that it did! This was a sweet and wholesome cosy fantasy with a strong romance subplot. This cosy tourist town full of magical beings sounded super cute, although the story focuses mostly on pixies (as our FMC is one), high fae and mages. I loved the banter between the characters and I enjoyed the mix of slice-of-life and relaxed (but intriguing) plot. If you’re looking for something light, sweet and entertaining, I’d recommend this!

So I’ve got multiple reads on at the minute but I’m really focusing on twoโ€”one is a buddy read I started today and another is an ongoing buddy read I started at the weekend.

  • The Hunger of the Gods โ‡ข 10% โ‡ข Becky and I have decided to continue our journey! First of all, I’m so glad that the glossary has moved to the front, and second, that Gwynne includes recaps of the previous book! So handy and I think all authors need to do this for series, especially long ones! But I digress. It’s still early in so I’m re-adjusting to the setting and remembering the characters. All I know is it’s gonna be mad and I can’t wait to see where it goes!
  • A River Enchanted โ‡ข 10% โ‡ข I feel this is quite a slow-burn, but I’m obsessed! I’m hella nervous about what’s coming next and still wondering WTF is going on. ๐Ÿ˜‚ I just finished part two today which leaves the one final part, and I can’t wait to get back to it. I need to know what’s going on! This is my buddy read with Chris.
  • Never After โ‡ข22% โ‡ข Ngl, this didn’t reel me in the way I thought it would at the beginning. This is marketed as historical romance, but I think it leans heavily towards the fiction and it is dark. I was tempted to DNF within the first chapter, but I decided to try the audiobook and the next thing I know, I’m at Ch7. This is now my colouring audiobook and I’ll get back to it soon!
  • How to Fake It in Society โ‡ข 48% โ‡ข I’m still making progress with this albeit slowly. This was my night time read until A River Enchanted took over the last few days ๐Ÿ˜‚ I’m gonna try to finish this week but as with all of Charles’ books, I’m enjoying it!

Some buddy reads are coming up that I’m really excited about but let’s see where my mood takes me!

What are you currently reading? I hope you’re enjoying whatever book you’ve picked up, friends!

  2. Of Owls and Oolong is one that I’m starting next week!! I’m so excited because I haven’t seen anyone talking about it. When did we plan to read Malice?! I forget. haha. Do we want to continue Kingfisher or hold off on that one? Assassin’s Quest is one I think Charlotte had said something about too. I am hoping I get my mind back after the book festival this weekend. LOL
