#WWWWednesday: 29 April 2026

Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

As this week’s list can attest to, I’ve done very little reading over the past week. Stress at home and the office has led me to diving head first into gaming, despite the fact that I do want to read. That said, my mood has been all over the show and it’s clear with how little I’ve managed to read.

Our Rogue Fates by Sarah Glenn Marsh
While this started off well enough, it didn’t go the way I expected.
Ngl, I’m pretty sad about it cos when I started, I thought it could be a 5-star read. I was very wrong. 😬

Look, you know I love a romance here, especially if it’s queer, but not at the expense of literally everything else in the story. The romance was so heavily focused on that the rest felt inconsequential. I mean, it’s not like they were undertaking an extremely dangerous journey to find a treasure no one has ever survived to retrieve, right? 🫣

Lies We Sing to the Sea by Sarah Underwood, The Ministry of Time by Kaliane Bradley

Lies We Sing to the Sea10% ↦ This is my next buddy read with Chris. I’m proud to say we’re really steadily working through our Illumicrate books (while simultaneously adding new ones to the list, lol)! We’re well aware of the controversy and criticisms around this—and I have to admit that a few chapters in and I already need to chuck out my knowledge of The Odyssey so as not to get confused, lol. I think it might help to read this as an entirely new and mostly unrelated story. Don’t really have many thoughts at the moment, but the writing is very easy to read!

The Ministry of Time39% ↦ I’ve caught on to this a lot faster than the first time and I’m enjoying it. I still think sometimes that the emotion in the story reads a little stifled? It’s dry sarcastic humour, sure, but I want to feel what the characters are feeling. I find it missing here! Despite that, I still can’t help but finding Commander Gore charming, lol.

What are you currently reading? I hope you’re enjoying whatever book you’ve picked up, friends!

  2. I still need to read my Illumicrate copy of that book too 😂 I don’t remember anything about the odyssey, so I probably won’t have an issue comparing the two whenever I get around to read it. I hope you & Chris end up liking it.

  3. I’m glad you’re gelling with Ministry of Time a little more, I totally get what you mean about the emotions being a little stifled. Really looking forward to our buddy read, and hopefully it’s a win seeing as your last read didn’t end up being one!
