#WWWWednesday: 8 April 2026

Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

While I feel like I’ve constantly been reading, I haven’t been doing so very quickly—which is fine, of course—as gaming is still taking priority in my free time. Since last week I’ve managed to finish two books though and I enjoyed both.

The Wicked Sea by Jordan Stephanie Gray, Sunbringer by Hannah Kaner

The Wicked Sea (The Wicked Sea #1) by Jordan Stephanie Gray ★★★½
I read this for a blog tour and while we didn’t hit it off on the right foot, I wound up enjoying it so much more than I thought I would! 🤭 Don’t let this pretty cover fool you—this gets dark and pretty gruesome/gory, but surprisingly, the grittier elements are what worked for me. Check out my full review

Sunbringer (Fallen Gods #2) by Hannah Kaner ★★★★☆
Chris and I dove straight into a buddy read of the second book after finishing the first. I expected this to be a lot faster in pace, but Kaner makes you work for the madness! I couldn’t get through the last chunk fast enough—it was so good and as always, we get more twists and reveals that have me anticipating just how this trilogy will end. I’m so keen to find out! 👀

A Sorceress Comes to Call by T. Kingfisher, The Other Bennet Sister by Janice Hadlow

A Sorceress Comes to Call ↦ 74% ↦ I was browsing the bookstore on Monday and something in my gut told me to read this book now so I bought it and have been reading and loving it! What is it about Kingfisher’s writing that makes it feel like a “comforting” read despite darker tones/themes? I’m enjoying this immensely!

The Other Bennet Sister ↦ 16% ↦ I’ve been seeing so many clips of the adaptation on my feed that I felt maybe I should read the book first before attempting to find somewhere to watch the whole show. I didn’t realise this book was 600+ pages and it makes me wonder, is it really worth it? I’m enjoying being in Mary’s head although my heart really goes out to her. It’s very interesting to see the Bennet family through Mary’s eyes… 👀
and for once I don’t actually mind the adaptation book cover!

It’s been a hot minute since I signed up to do any blog tours but four of these titles below really intrigued me and sounded like ones I’d really enjoy, so my April and May are semi-booked! 😃 I can’t wait to check them out.

What are you currently reading? I hope you’re enjoying whatever book you’ve picked up, friends!

  1. I really loved The Other Bennett Sister despite its length. It’s definitely worth persevering with in my opinion. I have A Sorceress comes to Call and Library of Amorlin to read soon too so I hope we both enjoy them .
