We’re back with another Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is: Bookish Discoveries I Made in 2025 (New-to-you authors you discovered, new genres you learned you like, new bookish resources you found, friends you made, local bookshops you found, a book club you joined, etc.)

Today’s topic is rather broad so I thought I would narrow down the scope to make it easier for myself and focus on 10 new-to-me authors that I read in 2025. Some were debut authors, others had books that were sat on my TBR for years, and honestly, I can definitely more than ten because there were plenty of new authors whose books I loved discovering last year. So this might be tougher than I think it will be*! So, without further ado…

  2. It’s so good when you discover a new author especially when they have a backlist to explore. I remember getting all of Robert Jackson Bennett’s books from the library in 2024 after reading The Tainted Cup. And you have all of Fredrik Backman and Robin Hobb too. So many amazing books to read 😃

  6. I didn’t read too many new to me authors last year.
    One was a DNF.
    2 Were autobiographical by Moon Unit Zappa and Geezer Butler so can’t really count.
    The best was Vanessa Lillie with Blood Sisters. I read her new book this year.
    I also started the Stella Rimington spy series

  7. M.L. Wang! I have read 2 of their books now and it is truly good. I haven’t kept track of new-to-me authors, pretty sure there were many because I picked up random books from KU last year 😅 I definitely suggest reading more books by Backman!

  8. I’ve been wanting to read Robin Hobb’s books for so long! I’ve heard the most amazing things about them. Hopefully, I’ll read at least one this year. I hope you discover many more amazing authors this year 😊. Thanks for visiting my blog!

  10. I absolutely adored Fredrik Backman’s Beartown series, it’s so cynical and sad, but gives you the slightest bit of hope that everything will be alright 😅 I haven’t read any of his other work but I definitely plan to!

  11. I started Dungeon Crawler Carl around New Year’s, and I am now already on book 3… so I think it’s safe to say Matt Dinniman will be on my list next year for new discoveries 🙂 I also really want to try Fredrik Backman!

  16. ‘future me says it was so much harder’ made me laugh 😂 I know the feeling from when I did this back in 2025. This year I managed to stick to 10 without too much trouble, although the post is still stuck in my drafts despite being complete 🙈 two of yours I also have covered in my post (I’m sure you can guess which due to buddy reads 😂) and another I’m going to discover for the first time within the week!! Very excited to do so.

    Out of the rest of the authors I’m especially eager to try something by Backman (I’m leaning towards Beartown), M.L. Wang (as I told you I got Blood Over Bright Haven out of the library then never got to it where catch up overwhelmed me) and I also really want to pick up Masquerade.

    Im glad you found so many new authors during 2025 and hope you also love whatever you pick up next by them.
