#WWWWednesday: 21 January 2026

Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

I’ve finished 2 books since last Wednesday. I’m still feeling a weird reading funk at the moment and at this point (for as long as it’s been going) I wonder if it’ll ever fade away. 😂 Lately, I’ve just been going with the flow when it comes to my reading and picking up (or putting down) whatever strikes my fragile reading mood.

(ARC) Better the Devil by Erik J. Brown ★★★☆☆
I finished this ARC just as its pub day rolled around yesterday. This ended up being very different to what I expected and I was a bit disappointed to find that not only was I not scared (at all), I was also quite bored. It was the lack of stakes and tension I felt in the writing and also a general lack of connection to anyone in the story. I’m pretty bummed about this but I’m glad that I gave it a shot.

Unveiled (Turner Series #1) by Courtney Milan ★★★½
After reading (and loving) the novella that follows this novel, I knew I wanted to give this series a go. I liked this first book! It’s instalove to the max and though that’s not always a fave, I just went with it and it wound up working for me! Mostly because Ash and Margaret (but mostly Ash) won me over. They were great together and I loved their banter and playfulness. I’m keen to read his brother’s stories because I feel like I’m going to love Mark’s story, but Smite’s might destroy me, lol. Can’t wait! 😂

You could say that I’ve got several reads on at the moment, but the one that’s holding my attention (mostly) is The Nightmare Before Kissmas. This is the book I choose for January’s Buzzword Reading Challenge prompt (“Before/After”) and it’s going okay so far. I thought I’d be loving it a lot more, but I’m finding the writing way more YA than I expected, and again, I’m not entirely sure if I’m feeling the emotional connection with the characters. Let’s see how the rest goes!

I’ve got my first buddy read with Charlotte coming up tomorrow! We’re starting the next Uketsu book and I’m very excited about it 🙂 The others are what I’m thinking of trying next… But we’ll see!

What are you currently reading? I hope you’re enjoying whatever book you’ve picked up, friends!

  1. I’m currently reading Cold Heat by Toni Anderson

In the last week I read 🥁
1 A Turn of the Tide by Kelley Armstrong.
2 Ghosts and Garlands by Kelley Armstrong.
3 Marked for Havoc by Susan Hayes.
4 A Castle in the Air by Kelley Armstrong.

Probably more Kelley Armstrong next, as I’ve had most of these 2 series for ages. The new Christine Feehan is still awaiting too
