🎇 Happy New Year’s Eve Everyone! 🎇

Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

I can’t believe this is the final day and final Wednesday of 2025! What a year it has been. I have to admit that I’m a little bummed that I’m not ending this year on a super high-note of reading but I’m also not too mad about it because I really enjoyed the two books I read! Since last week, I’ve managed to finish 3 books.

Tales from the Cafe (Before the Coffee Gets Cold #2) by Toshikazu Kawaguchi ★★★½
I liked the last three parts of this book the best, but found myself struggling with the earlier stories as I wasn’t really connecting to the characters or their stories. It was very bittersweet though and I did like the overall message this gave about what happiness means and not losing yourself to grief.

The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren ★★★★☆
After years of having this on my TBR, I finally got around to reading it and I’m glad that I did. I can’t lie and say that Ethan’s actions towards the end didn’t frustrate me. You can be oblivious to things but to be so to this extent and then to dismiss the words of someone you say means a lot to you… It was a complicated situation for sure! That said, I really enjoyed their enemies-to-lovers/hate-to-love transition and their sassy banter was a lot of fun too. This was the perfect beach read!

A Witch’s Guide to Magical Innkeeping by Sangu Mandanna ★★★★☆
This was my last buddy read with Leslie and I really enjoyed it. I kind of feel like, because I was reading it a bit off/on during my holiday, I didn’t get into it as I had hoped to. That said, I loved the found family aspect so much and cackled quite often while reading! What a quirky bunch, especially a certain fox, and though I wish some things had been addressed better at the end, I did have a really fun time reading it! At this point, I will read anything/everything Mandanna writes!

Royal Assassin ⇢ 65% ⇢ At this point it’s clear that I won’t be finishing this before the year ends, as I haven’t been reading it much at all. It’s not because I’m not enjoying it, I’m just taking my time with it and my mood has been a bit everywhere! That said, things are getting quite tense and there’s one character who I really want to yeet into a volcano or to shark-infested waters. 😤 It’s been ages since a character infuriated me so, lol.

I got sent the eARC of Canterbary’s latest just a few days before the pub date, so I didn’t get the chance to read it yet. But I think I’ll prioritize that next and whatever else my mood calls for!

What are you currently reading? I hope you’re enjoying whatever book you’ve picked up, friends!

  1. I’m currently reading the 3rd Trash Droid, Sector Zero, by Michael Cheney.
In the last week I read quite a few books. They were nearly all short reads. A couple of rereads too🥁

1 Scars of Silence by Johana Gustawsson.
2 Confessions of a Trash Droid Fatal Error by Michael Cheney.
3 Tidings of Comfort and Joy by Lynn Raye Harris. This was a very short freebie from the author
4 Confessions of a Trash Droid Illegal Operation by Michael Cheney.
5 Star Cruise Captain’s Prequel by Veronica Scott.
6 The Haunting of Payne’s Hollow by Kelley Armstrong.
7 Star Cruise Captain’s Story by Veronica Scott.

Not sure what next. I may start the Rip Through Time series by Kelley Armstrong. We’ll see!

  2. I feel the same way about these past days, but you have finished 3 books this past week, which is amazing!

I’m sorry you could not finish Royal Assassin in time, but think about it this way: you will be starting the year with it, which is great, since you’re enjoying it so much.
