Prompts: Do you set annual reading and/or blogging goals? Have you decided on any bookish/blogging resolutions for 2026? How do you decide what goals you want to pursue for the year ahead?

I do set reading and blogging goals! While I do like to let my imagination (and good intentions) run wild, I’ve definitely learned over the years that less is more when it comes to setting goals, lol. I love the idea of setting lots of them each year, but the reality is, I always end up doing far less than I think I will or want to. So I’ve learned to stick to the same goals each year, and maybe depending on whether there’s something that I really want to change or pursue, I’ll make slight modifications or even add a couple.

For 2026, I’m going to stick to the same goals that I’ve set myself for the past two years now. I’m making minor changes to a few, but for the most part, these seem to work well for me, lol. Here’s what I have in mind for reading & blogging right now:

  • Goodreads Challenge: Read 100 books. I read 150 this year but it was a hella weird reading year and I struggled a bit with finding books that really click.

  • Pick 1-2 Year-Long Reading Challenges. I think I attempted way too many reading challenges this year and while I had fun (sort of, lol) it also added unnecessary pressure and constriction to my reading. I know a lot of the times these prompts are about stepping out of your comfort zone, but sometimes knowing that I “had” to read a book for a certain month made my reading mood even more fickle. So this year, I think I’m going to only stick to 1-2 year-long reading challenges. They’ll likely be the Buzzword Reading Challenge and Year of Aeldia (if G is preparing it for this year).

  • Keep reading my backlist! I’m proud of how many books I read off my backlist in 2025, so I’m hoping to do the same in 2026. I think tackling the Illumicrate books on my shelf this year would be a good idea since I already knocked out a few of my Owlcrate reads in 2025 and it felt really good to yoink them off the shelves, especially since the majority of them weren’t hits for me! 👍🏽

  • Post 4-5 times weekly on my blog. I’ve been pretty consistent with posting 5 times a week this year (all days except Saturday) and I’ve enjoyed that. It hasn’t been massively pressuring and I’m easily able to work this posting schedule into my daily life.
