I’ve been kind of waffling on what tag to post because it’s been a minute but nothing has been striking my fancy. Then I was tagged by (the wonderful) Caro @Bookcheshirecat the other day to do The Christmas Eve Book Tag, and well, there’s no better time for it (even though it goes up Christmas Day, lol)! 🤭 Let’s just jump straight into it.
This tag was originally created by BookTuber: Sam’s Cozy Corner

Christmas Eve Morning: What is a a book you wake up excited to read?

The Buffalo Hunter Hunter by Stephen Graham Jones
This was a book that I found so difficult to put down and that I was always so excited to pick up again the next moment. It was refreshing because this book was so far out of my norm, but I loved it to bits—it’s my top read of 2025!
Christmas Eve Breakfast: What are your favourite treats during the holiday season?
This one’s a bit tough because I’m answering in the “past tense” seeing as where I live doesn’t really celebrate this season and neither does my family in general. However, when I lived in places where they used to celebrate, I loved getting Mulled Wine, all things peppermint and chocolatey, and gingerbread. All of this gives me such warm feelings and I used to love indulging in all those treats! 😊
Family Time: What is a book that fills you with happiness and love?

Blades of Furry, Vol. 1 by Emily Erdos & Deya Muniz
I feel like I’ve mentioned this book a lot this year, but it’s for good reason. This is such a fun, adorable, and feel-good graphic novel! I kicked my feet giggling so much while reading this. I loved it so much! 💜
Christmas Carols: What are your favourite Christmas Carols or holiday songs?
There’s just something about these songs that get me in a Christmassy mood—even when I live in the tropics and my family doesn’t actually celebrate the holiday! 🤭
Anticipation: What is a book release you are very much anticipating?

The Poet Empress by Shen Tao
I have already seen quite a few reviews for this book and all of them have been glowing and gushing recommendations. Several reviewers have already said it’s one of their new all-time favourites. I love the sound of it and I can’t wait to get my hands on it!
You hear sleigh bells on the roof and are so excited you can’t sleep! What’s a book that kept you up all night?

The Sword of Kaigen by M.L. Wang
I’m pretty sure this one had me reading straight through until the morning when I binged it on the weekend. It was a fantastically emotional ride!
It’s Christmas morning and Santa has come! What is a book on your wishlist that you hope to unwrap?

A book that I really want to get my hands on is:
The River Has Roots by Amal El-Mohtar
I’ve heard so many good things about this one and this cover is also stunning. We do love a story about sisterhood and faerie! Since I’m my own Santa, I’m just waiting on a good deal really, lol.

That’s it for the Christmas Eve Book Tag! I won’t be tagging anyone but I’d love to see your answer if you do this. I hope everyone has a wonderful day and if this is a difficult time for you, I’m sending lots of hugs and comfort your way! 🫂

Merry Christmas Dini 🙂

Thanks, Carla! I’m enjoying myself so much that I’m forgetting the days (I thought today was Sunday not Monday, lol). It’s a bit late but I hope you had a happy Christmas and are enjoying the holiday season!

I’ve been doing the same thing, Dini. I had a wonderful Christmas and am now enjoying the afterglow. I head to Mexico in 4 days, so need to get packed.

Nice tag, Dini. I learned that we both love peppermint and chocolate. And gingerbread, as a German, it’s a Must to love gingerbread. LOL
Merry Christmas.

I have a lot of Christmas song by Pentatonix on my Christmas playlist. I’d say they make up at least half of the list or at least very close to half of it.

Great post, Dini! I’m really old fashioned when it comes to Christmas songs, though I do enjoy a bit of Michael Buble lol. I just got a copy of The River Has Roots and can’t wait to give it a read, fingers crossed we both enjoy it 🙂

Merry Christmas! I’ve heard so many great things about The Poet Empress I’ve decided to add it to my TBR too lol. I love White Winter Hymnal too but I think my christmas song this year is Sabrina Carpenter’s A Nonsense Christmas 😀
