#WWWWednesday: 10 December 2025

Leslie and I are planning a group read for Dungeon Crawler Carl starting in January 2026! Find more details on Leslie’s page or at the end of this post!

Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

I almost thought that I hadn’t finished anything since last week but I have! 😮‍💨 I’ve finished one book.

Assassin’s Apprentice (The Farseer Trilogy #1) by Robin Hobb ★★★★★

Without a doubt one of my favourite books this year! Everything everyone said about this series was spot on and I’m excited knowing that I’ve got heaps of books to explore in this realm. Hobb’s storytelling is fantastic and there’s something about the quality of writing that reels you in and makes it feel like a comforting read! I became so invested in Fitz’s story—I laughed, cried, and hurt with this young man. I couldn’t wait to start the next book!

  • Royal Assassin ⇢ 23% ⇢ I haven’t had as much time to binge this as I’d hoped to but I’m still loving the flow and seeing what happens with FitzChivalry. I want so bad for there to be a revenge arc but who knows—even though I get why there hasn’t been so far—but maybe we’ll get it by the end, lol 🥲
  • The Impossible Fortune ⇢ 52% ⇢ This has been so easy to slip back into! I don’t know if it’s just me but the chapters even feel shorter? It’s nice to come back to these oldies. I’m a bit behind Leslie and I’m holding her up from finishing probably (lol, sorry girl) but I’m slowly catching up…
  • Crier’s War ⇢ 47% ⇢ I got through a good chunk over the weekend but haven’t picked this back up again. Might save it for another weekend binge after Friday!

I got sent the eARC of Canterbary’s latest just a few days before the pub date, so I didn’t get the chance to read it yet. But I think I’ll prioritize that next and whatever else my mood calls for!

Join our big group read for Dungeon Crawler Carl in January 2026!

Even before we finished the seventh book in September, we already knew we wanted to do a bigger re-read of the series in the lead up to the eighth book coming out in 2026! We also figured this would be really fun reading in a bigger group, so that’s what we’re doing! We’ll start in January and read roughly 1 book per month to prepare for the release of the next book later in the year! We’re hosting it on Instagram so leave a comment below or message me (@dinipandareads) or Leslie (@booksarethenewblack11) over there if you’d like to join.
🧨 GET EXCITED, CRAWLERS! 🧨

What are you currently reading? I hope you’re enjoying whatever book you’ve picked up, friends!

    • There’s definitely good reason people still talk about this series to this day. I love when stories can still hit years down the line. There’s just something so utterly classic fantasy about it that makes it even more appealing to my reading brain right now, lol.

    • Yeah, I’m so glad that I finally picked up her books! I can see why people love it. There’s such a great comforting ‘classic high fantasy’ vibe to it. I’ve got the Nightmare Before Kissmas on my TBR and I can’t wait to check it out. I hope you’re enjoying it so far 🙂

    • I actually haven’t seen a whole lot about this author in previous years (or at least I don’t feel like I have) but I know she’s extremely popular and I’ve been seeing her books mentioned everywhere this year specifically. I can understand why 🤣 We love finding a 5-star read!

    • It’s definitely making my favourites list this year! It’s just… So good? I don’t know. I feel like there’s a quality to the writing that I haven’t come across in a while and it’s just so nice. Very classic high fantasy? I can see why so many people rave about this series/world! I hope you enjoy all your reads as well, Becky 🙂
