#WWWWednesday: 12 November 2025

Leslie and I are planning a group read for Dungeon Crawler Carl starting in January 2026! Find more details on Leslie’s page or at the end of this post!

Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

Since last week I managed to finish 2 books and I thoroughly enjoyed both. One is even a contender for top 3 favourite of the year!

The Midnight Shift by Cheon Seon-Ran, The Last Devil to Die by Richard Osman

The Midnight Shift by Cheon Seon-Ran ★★★☆☆
This was just okay? I was a bit whelmed by it and expected more from what I’d heard people say about it. Sadly, I missed all the emotional connection with this—like, it read so flat and detached to me that it made me question whether I was meant to feel anything at all? Was it intentional by the author in this story that centers societal loneliness?

The Last Devil to Die (Thursday Murder Club #4) by Richard Osman ★★★★★
Oh, this one got me so deep in my feels, friends. I believe I first started crying at Ch16 and sporadically continued until I big ugly cried in the chapters towards the end. This book drove home how I’m reading this series not only for the fun mysteries and shenanigans but because I’m so invested in these characters and their stories. This was both wonderful and heartbreaking, but Osman perfectly balanced the deeply emotional moments with the humour, wit, and charm I’ve come to expect from this series!

The Stardust Thief21%

I’ve had this book on my TBR for ages and I don’t know why I picked this up now specifically, but it felt like the right time. I’ve been looking for something to suck me in and this story has done just that—I’ve been immediately reeled in by the characters, the world-building, and the Arabian Nights inspiration. ✨ I’m really having a fab time so far! 😊

I’ve got another buddy read coming up, but I’m mostly going with my mood (as usual)!

Join our big group read for Dungeon Crawler Carl in January 2026!

Even before we finished the seventh book in September, we already knew we wanted to do a bigger re-read of the series in the lead up to the eighth book coming out in 2026! We also figured this would be really fun reading in a bigger group, so that’s what we’re doing! We’ll start in January and read roughly 1 book per month to prepare for the release of the next book later in the year! We’re hosting it on Instagram so leave a comment below or message me (@dinipandareads) or Leslie (@booksarethenewblack11) over there if you’d like to join.
🧨 GET EXCITED, CRAWLERS! 🧨

What are you currently reading? I hope you’re enjoying whatever book you’ve picked up, friends!

    • Aw, thanks Anna! It took me a while to finally like what I did and I’m still being nitpicky with it but I’m glad it’s been well received 🤭 We’d love to have you Instagram if you come around that way! Bluesky is definitely not the same as Twitter was back in the day and while I still kinda post on there sometimes, I’m very much mostly absent. Same for Twitter nowadays.

      • I just don’t like Instagram that much, and I know I would not be posting anything. However, I do not see many other options. Like you say, Bluesky is just not the same. I don’t know what to do, but I’ll be sure to follow you wherever I end up❤️

    • Now that I’ve finished my other read I’m going to spend the rest of the weekend bingeing this. I do have the second book as well and I’m wondering if maybe I’ll continue straight through to it or… Wait until we get closer to the third book coming out (though I haven’t a clue when that happens). I hope you enjoy it whenever you get around it, Becky! 😍
