#TopTenTuesday: Ten from the Stacks

We’re back with another Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic is a: The First 10 Books I Randomly Grabbed from My Shelf (Stand in front of your book collection, close your eyes, point to a title, and write it down. If you have shelves, point to your physical books. If you have a digital library, use a random number generator and write down the title of the book that corresponds with the number you generated. You get bonus points if you tell us whether or not you’ve read the book, and what you thought of it if you did!)

I liked this week’s topic and had fun randomly picking out 10 titles from my (overwhelmingly messy) shelves! These ten picks are all on my TBR and I’m actually hoping to read a few of these before the year ends (I’ve marked them with an * if anyone is curious to know which ones!). Let’s see if I will actually get to any! 🤭

People Watching by Hanna Bonham-Young
The Art of Prophecy by Wesley Chu
Mysteries of Thorn Manor by Margaret Rogerson
Firekeeper’s Daughter by Angeline Boulley*
Heir by Sabaa Tahir

A Merry Little Meet Cute by Julie Murphy & Sierra Simone*
Before I Let Go by Kennedy Ryan*
The God of the Woods by Liz Moore*
Wild Reverence by Rebecca Ross
The Second Death of Locke by V.L. Bovalino*

Have you read any of these books or are they also on your TBR?

  1. This topic was fun and generally promotes lots of variety on everyone’s list too – and my shelves are currently was messy, too! 🙂 Hope you enjoy all of the ones you plan to read yet. 🙂

  2. Firekeepers Daughter is pretty powerful!

A Merry Little Meet Cute was a DNF for me. It wasn’t the spicy level, because I knew it would be high. It just seemed to be the whole story. And the parts that weren’t spicy just felt too farfetched to be true.

I haven’t had the chance to read any of Hannah Bonham-Young, but I did pick up one of her books at a book festival recently.

    • I’ve heard so many positive things about Firekeeper’s Daughter! I’m looking forward to giving it a go 🙂 Ooh, I’m sorry to hear that about A Merry Little Meet Cute! I can’t recall seeing many things about it but what I did see was positive. Simone’s books tend to be very hit/miss for me (mostly miss) but I’ve been wanting to try Murphy’s books for a while. Let’s see how this one goes for me!

I also haven’t read any of HBY’s books yet although I already have a few on my digital shelves 🫣 I’m keen to give her books a try as well.

    • It’s been on my TBR for yonks too! I feel like I keep saying I’m going to read it next and then the time never really comes around 🫣 Often because I get distracted by another shiny new book… Lol. I hope you enjoy it as well whenever you check it out!

  3. I need to read The Art of Prophecy still! I’ve heard great things about it. The Mysteries of Thorn Manor is super fun if you’re looking for something that’s quick, cozy, and just filled with banter and sarcasm! Not nearly as much Silas as I would like, but I can still hold out hope that Silas gets his own book eventually. 😉

I’ve got most of these on my TBR, too, but like most of my TBR, I have no plan as to when I’ll actually get to them. xD I hope you enjoy them all!

    • I feel like I’ve had The Art of Prophecy on my TBR for way too long. I’m surprised I rarely see anyone talk about it though—or maybe that’s a sign of what people think of it? But I feel like I’ve seen it positively received! Ooh, I would looove for Silas to get a story of his own. Maybe we’ll be gifted it one day 🤭

I hope you enjoy the books you’ve got on your TBR whenever you get to them as well, Sammie!
