#WWWWednesday: 17 September 2025

Leslie and I are planning two group reads in the coming months! Find more details on Leslie’s page or at the end of this post!

Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

Since last week, I’ve managed to finish 5 books!

A Natural History of Dragons (Lady Trent #1) by Marie Brennan ★★★★½
Oh, I loved this so very much! I think this might grow into a 5-star read the longer it lingers in my mind, but for now, I’m leaving it as is. I was captivated by Isabella’s story and character. She is so wonderful, and I loved her relationship with Jacob (the husband) and the other members of their adventuring party. I would highly recommend the audiobook! 💜

(ARC) Pitcher Perfect (Big Shots #4) by Tessa Bailey ★★★½
It’s been a minute since I read a Bailey book and I had an unexpectedly good time with this! I was worried about the MMC initially because his intro to us was so far from cute, but I think Robbie and Skylar made a great couple. I love how they supported and validated each other. The way he stood up for her was also swoony! It wasn’t much of a sports romance but there are two sports in it, lol.

Stonecut County Series #1 & 2 by Cate C. Wells ★★★☆☆
I read the second book first and was surprised by how much I enjoyed it, but after reading the first book, I feel like my opinion on the second has changed. I wished these men had the guts to stand up to their families before the FMCs suffered worse for their inaction. It irritated me that they were so naive about so much because everyone in their town “worshipped” their family, and they could get away with anything. That said, the character arcs and romance had more depth than I expected, and I enjoyed both semi-slow-burn romances a lot!

How to Steal A Galaxy (Chaotic Orbits #2) by Beth Revis ★★★★☆
This was such a fun second book in the series! After lies unravel at the end of the first book, I was so intrigued to see what would happen next between Ada and Rian, but also with the big thing. No spoilers, obviously, but I wasn’t disappointed! Being set in a museum, it was very Ocean’s Eleven-esque, and holy smokes, the chemistry between these two was fire! 🔥 I can’t wait to see what reveals come next.

  • Dinner for Vampires: Life on A Cult TV Show11% ⇢ I picked this up on a whim this morning after seeing a bookstagrammer gush about it. I loved Bethany Joy Lenz in OTH, and she wound up being my favourite for a long time. I can’t believe she was going through this as she was filming that show!
  • The Blood Trials ⇢ 17% ⇢ This is so action-packed and the content makes me so angry! The powerful elite in this book are straight-up psychopaths! They make me wanna go Godzilla on them, lol. 🤣
  • Katabasis53% ⇢ I’m still enjoying this, but the content makes for pretty heavy reading! I know things are only going to get worse as we go along, but it does make for a great buddy read because there are a lot of thoughts to discuss!

A few buddy reads but it’s mostly where the mood takes me!

As I mentioned above, Leslie and I are planning group buddy reads in the upcoming months. If you’re interested in joining, you can reach out to either of us via comments or DM us on socials!

  • The Green Bone Saga by Fonda Lee — We’re planning a group read for the last three months of 2025. We’ll start in October and read one book per month through December. It’ll be a re-read for many but you’re welcome to join even if you haven’t read it yet and have been wanting to! 💚
  • Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman — Yes, you’re seeing that right. We’re currently reading DCC but we’re planning to start (what we hope will be) a larger group read in January 2026 to prepare for the release of of book 8 in June 2026! GET EXCITED! 🧨

What are you currently reading? I hope you’re enjoying whatever book you’ve picked up, friends!

  1. I’ve just started reading an old Jayne Ann Krentz book, Copper Beach. Finally finished the In Death books, plus the new one. I’m in a bit of a slump now as I’m missing them. Lol

In the last week I’ve read:
1 Bonded in Death by JD Robb.
2 Framed in Death by JD Robb.
3 Forbidden Ice by Cynthia Eden.

    Not sure what next.

    • Omg, you finished the series! 🎉 I can totally imagine how it could give you a “book hangover”/bit of a slump considering how long you’ve been reading the books. I hope you’ve been able to find something that piques your interest and that you manage to shake off your slump, Gill!

    • Yay! Ngl, the covers are also why I’ve kept it on my TBR for so long but I’m glad that I finally read it cos it was every bit as cosy and wonderful and fantastical as everyone told me it would be. I would also really recommend the audiobook if you can get your hands on it. The narrator does a fantastic job voicing Isabella and the other characters!

  2. I am so glad you enjoyed A Natural History of Dragons!! I can’t wait to start book two with you in the group now! I loved Dinner for Vampires. I had no idea she was going through all that. I hope you have a wonderful week, Dini!! ❤

    • It was so good and I’m so happy that I finally read it! 🤣 I can’t wait until next month to start the next book as well—it’ll be so much fun! Did you read Dinner for Vampires? I saw a bookstagrammer review of the audiobook and he sold me on it completely. I had no idea she was going through all this as well—it’s such a wild example of like how you really don’t know what people are going through IRL, lol.

      • Yes, I read Dinner for Vampires last year, I believe. Maybe earlier in the year.. I can’t remember. It was so good and shocking! I had no idea she was going through all of that. Oh yeah, it really shows how you never know what people are really going through.
