#WWWWednesday: 3 September 2025

Leslie and I are planning two group reads in the coming months! Find more details on Leslie’s page or at the end of this post!

Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

Since last week, I’ve managed to finish 4 books. I wanted to get these reads in before I started on some chonkier ones and I’m so glad I read (most of) them because they were the perfect palate cleansers! 😍

Dare to Be A Duchess (The Elusive Lords #1) by Sapna Bhog ★★½
The more I thought about this the more I felt like it wouldn’t be on my list of historical romances I’d recommend anyone try. Not that it was written terribly, it’s just that I felt the FMC could’ve had more of a backbone when it came to the MMC, and he needed to grovel a helluva lot more than he did. I wished he had publicly stood up for Lara and I was just waiting for him to do something more impactful and it never came. This was okay, but there are so many that do it better!

Haven Ever After: Books 3 & 4 by Hazel Mack ★★★★☆ (avg)
This series is so much fun! I’m so happy Alo and Miriam got their HEA with sweet little Iggy. I was initially unsure if I really felt their chemistry but Mack proved me wrong quickly! I knew the romance between Morgan and the Keeper was going to be intense but wowzer, this was intense! In the best way. The Keeper deserves everything good! 🥹

This Poison Heart (This Poison Heart #1) by Kalyn Bayronn ★★★★½
I had such a fun time reading this and I’m sad I put it off for so long. But also, finally a YA contemporary with magical/fantastical elements that just worked for me. It was so good! I loved Bri and her relationship with her mums, I loved the mythology woven into the storyline, the mystery, the intensity. It all blended together wonderfully and I can’t wait to read the next book.

  • This Inevitable Ruin57% ⇢ This book has been intense. We’re getting additional perspectives between chapters that are just… Hitting super hard. I’m buddy reading this with Leslie and we’re making steady progress, as usual. So hard to put down once we get going!
  • Katabasis6% ⇢ I’m reading this with a group of bloggers but it’s a month long read so I’m trying to pace myself! I’m waiting until tomorrow or Friday to really dig into the first set of chapters and I’ve got six more to go. So far, I’m really intrigued, and even though it’s pretty academic (as expected), I’m loving the writing! My interest meter has been pinging!

A few buddy reads but it’s mostly where the mood takes me!

As I mentioned above, Leslie and I are planning group buddy reads in the upcoming months. If you’re interested in joining, you can reach out to either of us via comments or DM us on socials!

  • The Green Bone Saga by Fonda Lee — We’re planning a group read for the last three months of 2025. We’ll start in October and read one book per month through December. It’ll be a re-read for many but you’re welcome to join even if you haven’t read it yet and have been wanting to! 💚
  • Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman — Yes, you’re seeing that right. We’re currently reading DCC but we’re planning to start (what we hope will be) a larger group read in January 2026 to prepare for the release of of book 8 in June 2026! GET EXCITED! 🧨

What are you currently reading? I hope you’re enjoying whatever book you’ve picked up, friends!
