The Magical Readathon: Orilium Autumn Equinox 2025

Hello, friends. I can’t believe it’s already that time of year but we’re now getting ready for the ✨ 2025 Orilium Autumn Equinox!

While I’ve loved participating in Orilium over the past several years, I have to admit that I haven’t been doing so well with since last year. Still, I’m excited to get back to it and I have high hopes that the 2025 Autumn Equinox will be smashing!

If you have no idea what I’m talking about, our lovely host G @Book Roast created this Beginners Guide to the Magical Readathon, just in case you’re interested in starting your own journey to Orilium!

Let’s see what this latest semester has in store for us, shall we?

CHARACTER BACKGROUND

Guild Tier Points: 430
Spent at the Guild Emporium: -10
Year in Aeldia: +70

  • Name: Meeska Shonara
  • Guild: House of the Arcane
  • Calling: Illusionist Rogue
  • Status: Adept
  • Background: Urban
  • Province: Kerador
  • Heritage: Earthling (Fire)
  • Conduit: Staff
  • Legacy: Pocket Dimension

For the second year in the Spring Equinox, Meeska has continued their pursuit of the Mage Hunter calling to complement their Illusionist Rogue capabilities. While the first year was a lot of a flop, having a few Guild points to spare and access to the Guild Emporium, helped Meeska jump over their final remaining hurdle: an incomplete class.

Here’s a quick syllabus recap and the completed readings for the 2025 Spring Equinox:

  • Elemental Studies: Eight Hundred Grapes by Laura Dave
  • Spells & Incantations: Scroll of Closure
  • Conjuration: Masquerade by O.O Sangoyomi
  • Restoration: Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir

Meeska is finally a step closer to completing the Mage Hunter Novice certification, and they’re freaking excited about it!

  1. Best of luck to you and Meeska!

A Man Called Ove, Someone You Can Build A Nest In, Lady Knight, Everyone On This Train Is A Suspect and A Natural History of Dragon were all big hits for me, so I really hope you enjoy them if you pick those up. 🙂

  2. Good luck with the readathon. I do still plan to join in sometime but I think I’ll go with starting at the start of the year. Before then I’ll have to make sure I get on and learn all the basics.

You have some great options on your TBR. I’ve only seen the adaptation for Ove but it was fantastic. I have Spells For Forgetting on my Kindle and forgot all about it 🙈 I love Elizabeth Lims books but still need to check out her latest and the Magical Innkeeping one sounds so good. All your circle titles are intriguing. I’m still excited about The Knight & The Moth and yay for including Lady Trent. I really hope you enjoy it whenever you get to it.

Also is Percy Jackson a reread for you or have I actually found someone else who hasn’t read that series yet?

    • Thanks, Charlotte! Totally understandable—I think this readathon can be intimidating with all the elements at first, but G does a great job explaining it in her intro video to the readathon. If you have any questions about it, let me know, I’d be happy to chat too 😃

I’ve been meaning to read the Lady Trent books but then my mood always gets in the way and it gets put off again. I think I’m going to prioritize it for September though! Also, indeed you have found someone who has yet to read that series! Sometimes it does feel like I’m the last person who hasn’t read it but glad to know I’m not alone on this island, haha. 😂 I’ve been meaning to read it for a while since everyone seems to love it. I hope I get the hype!

      • Yeah I did start watching it when you shared it in the last one. I meant to figure it all out before now but honestly this month’s kind of manic anyway so it probably wouldn’t have been the best time to try joining in for the next time. I’ll make sure I’m reading for the early 2026 one. And thanks for the offer of help ❤️

I hope they end up working for you whenever you get to them. And omg it’s kind of exciting to know I’m not alone. I’ve seen the movie but never got to the book 😂 If I’m remembering rightly I actually made it one of my goals this year to finally read it but so far no luck 🙈 here’s hoping it lives up to the hype for both of us 🤞

I’m still waiting for my copy of Someone to Build A Nest in from the library! & There are so many good new releases this year for that Current Spell Trends prompt! Oh yay I’m happy to see A Natural History of Dragons on your TBR, I can’t wait to see what you think about it!
