Hello friends, it’s been a hot minute since I’ve done The Birthstone Book Covers series created by Leslie @ Books Are the New the Black. I keep meaning to make a post every month, but then I blink and suddenly the month is over and I still haven’t done it! 🤦🏻♀️ But I digress. The last time I did this was in 2022, and so I made sure to pick different books from the ones that I picked then.
The Rules
- Mention the creator (Leslie @ Books Are The New Black ) and link back to me so I can see your post!
- Pick 5+ book covers that match the current month’s Birthstone.
- HAVE FUN!
- Nominate people if you want!

The August birthstone is peridot!
What I said the first time about finding books in this shade remains true today: it’s not easy to find them on my shelves! I tried to find covers that captured the brightness and lightness of peridot’s green, and it took a while scrolling through my Kindle library, but I managed to find ten titles eventually!

Graveyard Shift by M.L. .Rio
The Oleander Sword by Tasha Suri
The Water Outlaws by S.L. Huang
In the Lives of Puppets by T.J. Klune
A Promise of Peridot by Kate Golden

I’m Only Wicked With You by Julie Anne Long
You’re A Mean One, Matthew Prince by Timothy Janovsky
Someone You Can Build A Nest In by John Wiswell
Chain-Gang All-Stars by Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah
Adelaide by Genevieve Wheeler

And that’s it for the August Peridot birthstone covers. Happy birthday to all the August babies!

I also had a hard time with this one! Very cool that you found a book with peridot in the title though.

Yes! That one was a pleasant surprise to me and even though the peridot shade itself is quite small, I couldn’t pass up using a book with the title of the jewel in it! 🤭

I might have to start looking for titles with the birthstones in the title, just to see how many I can get!.

Now that you mention it, I’m curious if I’ll have any for the other birthstones too! 🤭

I love your choices, Dini! I just got the Kate Golden series and I don’t typically see it around the blogsphere!

Y’know, I’m actually kind of surprised that I haven’t seen this series around more. I also have been slacking on it actually. I buddy read the first book with Chris what feels like years ago but now the trilogy is complete, and I have them all (I think!) so it’s definitely time for a re-read and to complete it, lol.

Yeah, I don’t think I’ve ever seen it around. I saw it maybe one time on Tiktok a long time ago. I just love the covers. haha. They were on a deal a month ago or so. Well if you want to read them together, I’m up for it!! haha

Ohh I live the vibrant green of all but adelaide (too washed out for me 🙈)

Fair enough! It is a much lighter shade but I find it very soothing!

I think you should get extra points for also finding a book with the word peridot in the title. Lol Great picks, Dini!

Very pretty collection of green covers! All I could think of was the last Inheritance Games book – it was green.

Ooh yeah, I actually don’t have those books on my TBR but I do recall it being a darker shade of green, right? I wonder if I’m recalling correctly in thinking that it’d fit the Emerald shade perfectly 😍

Yay how lovely to see you joining in with this 🥰 I feel like you’ve picked the hardest month to do so though as I totally agree, peridot is a tricky shade to find. All of these covers look lovely together though and some of them have such gorgeous designs 😍 I also really like the shade of the dress on I’m Only Wicked With You.

I feel like I kept doing this series until like a year ago but I was shocked to learn that the last time I posted one of these was back in 2023?! It’s mad how time flies! Peridot is definitely a tricky shade, especially since I like matching to the shade that takes up the most area in the gem—like, I could always do the different layers of peridot with the darker and even lighter tones, but idk why my brain feels like that’s cheating! 🤣

Yes it’s crazy how time flies. I guess you just lose track of how long it’s been with some things. I totally understand, I feel like you have to go for what matches best with the gem overall so I found the two toned ones tricky earlier this year too. But this kind of shade of green seems especially rare. I thought I was going to have to start searching my unowned TBR just to find five 🙈

I think next time I should just stick to five cos sometimes 10 feels extra and I’m like girl, do you really need to be doing all this work? 🤣 But it’s still fun when I find a shade that (I think) matches perfectly! Can’t wait to do the next one already. Honestly, there should be no issue with scheduling this one in advance (but of course, I rarely do it, lol)!

I totally get that as I have a tendency to go OTT with everything too. I do stick to five books for this one (although I may do ten next month as it’s my birthstone) but if I get tagged in something I insist on doing the tag for every single time, not just once 🙈 and yes I get the scheduling thing too. Some things I get sorted in advance but others I seem to rush to fit in last minute 🙈

And I totally get the excitement of finding a book in the perfect shade 💚
