We’re back with another Sundays in Bed With… meme! This meme dares to ask you what book has been in your bed this morning and is hosted by Midnight Book Girl. Come share what book you’ve spent your time reading in bed or wish you had time to read today.

I’ve spent most of my Sunday in bed reading Enchantra by Kaylie Smith. I started this book over a month ago, but it got shoved to the side for other reads. However, after finishing my last book and feeling a looming ‘book hangover’, I dove straight into this, and I’m so glad that I did. I’m enjoying it so much more than the first book, and I wish that this was the experience I had reading Phantasma!
What book are you spending your Sunday in bed with?

This past week at work was just as hectic as I thought it’d be, and due to some behind-the-scenes drama that sprung pretty early on in the week, I was more than exhausted by the time Friday rolled around. The lingering tension and petty behaviour resulting from this drama was awful, and it was a very clear reminder to me how my work place can be such a toxic space. I’ve been getting these reminders at work a lot lately, especially as new people have joined, and most of the long-time team started acting in ways that reminded me too much of cliquey high school behaviour (and this from people in their mid to late 40s even)!
I’ve definitely been labelled “the bad guy” as I’m the only person calling them out on the ways their behaviour isn’t welcoming or inclusive, and neither does it give a good impression of the team/office. I know a lot has to do with cultural differences but when we work in an international environment that claims to be “inclusive”, it makes me want to go around handing out mirrors to get them to see how hypocritical their behaviour is, lol. Sigh. 😮💨 It’s exhausting, but they can call me the bad guy all they want because I won’t stop myself from calling out toxic, rude, and uncalled for behaviour just to stay “cool” with them.

I hope everyone’s doing well and treating themselves with care. Have a great week ahead, friends! 💜

Ugh, I’m sorry your workplace is not being inclusive. Good on you for calling them out on it, though it sucks that it makes you look like the “bad guy” even though you’re doing the right thing. I hope they realize how they’re acting and take the pettiness down a few notches. Hope this upcoming week is better!

Thanks, Celeste! It’s quite draining and it’s frustrating because they are very defensive and very easily excuse their actions, no matter how often I say something. Sigh. The tensions were quite high last week though and so I’m hoping that since the workshop is over, this week will be much better. 🤞🏽 Hope you have a great week too!

Ugh. Your workplace sounds dreadful. I hope you are having a great weekend to get all the stress out of your system and that next week is better. Glad that you are enjoying Enchantra. It’s probably better for series to get better rather than the first book be the best. Less disappointment that way.😃

I’ve not yet read Phantasma or Enchantra, but they are on my tbr! Glad you’re enjoying more this one more. Sorry to hear about work drama though – I can only imagine how irritating and energy zapping that must be! Good on you for calling them out on it though – you should be proud – so many people wouldn’t, not sure I’d have the guts to be quite honest. But clique-ines in adult environments gives me a real ick! xo
