Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:
- What did you read last?
- What are you currently reading?
- What will you read next?

I haven’t managed to read a whole lot since last week except for these 2 books. I’ve suddenly found myself in a funky reading mood and combined with my absolutely shot capacity to focus, I’ve been picking up and putting down books left and right. These buddy reads I’ve been doing have kept me going though and I’m glad that I have a few lined up next!

The Gate of the Feral Gods by Matt Dinniman, The Jasmine Throne by Tasha Suri
The Gate of the Feral Gods (Dungeon Crawler Carl #4) by Matt Dinniman ★★★★★
I loved buddy reading this with Leslie. While the elements of each story are still out-of-this-world and the humour is top-notch, more serious elements in plot and character development have been introduced and I’m loving every minute of it. Carl is such a good egg and I love him, Donut, Katia, Mongo, and Mordecai so much! I guess you can say it’s too late to not get attached to these characters and Dinniman has all the power in his hand to emotionally WRECK me. I’m not ready for it. 🤡
The Jasmine Throne (The Burning Kingdoms #1) by Tasha Suri ★★★★☆
This was a buddy re-read with Jess and it’s such a good thing we re-read it because we both forgot so much about what happened! 🤣 I enjoyed it a lot on re-read although we both brought it down by 1/2 a star as we didn’t feel the romance and we had some lingering questions re. the world-building. It was a solid read and I’d still highly recommend it though!

- The Oleander Sword ⇢ 18% ⇢ Jess and I have decided to immediately continue with this series while book one is still super fresh in our minds. There’s so much tension and way too much that can go wrong—it’s honestly making me a little anxious, lol. But I’m keen to see where the story goes!
- A Master of Djinn ⇢ 30% ⇢ I haven’t picked this back up since last week. I feel like I might pause this for now because I feel like I’ve lost my mojo with it, but I’m going to try to read a few more pages before deciding!
- Enchantra ⇢ 18% ⇢ Another one I haven’t picked back up yet although I’m still keen to read it. I just don’t feel like doing it in bits and pieces. I think I’ll save it for a weekend binge!

I’ll be picking up the Ashley Poston book soon as a buddy read, but otherwise, I’m just going where the mood takes me!

What are you currently reading? I hope you’re enjoying whatever book you’ve picked up, friends!

I’m currently reading Alien Heir by Cara Bristol
In the last week I’ve read:
1 Delusion in Death by JD Robb.
2 Service Model by Adrian Tchaikovsky. Loved the idea of this but lost interest after the first few chapters. Skim read the rest
3 Home before Dark by Eva Björg Aegisdóttir.
4 Calculated in Death by JD Robb.
Next up, more In Deaths

Oh no, sorry to hear about Tchaikovsky’s book! Every time I see that cover I get intrigued by the robotic hand. 😂 I hope that your other reads are much more enjoyable for you!

Thanks, Sam! Honestly, this series is getting better with each book. It fools you into thinking there’s no much substance until bam—there’s a whole lot of it! 🤣 I hope you I enjoy Poston’s book too! I haven’t read anything by her since Dead Romantics and I loved that to bits.

Happy to hear you enjoyed your re-read of Jasmine Throne. It’s one of those series that gets better with each book, at least in my opinion lol. Enjoy your reads 🙂

I’m reading Oleander Sword right now and omg, I am loving it so much more than Jasmine Throne! Not saying that book 1 was bad but the pacing in Oleander and the TENSION are sending me, haha. Like, help. I feel so anxious but also I just want to gobble it up cos I need to know what happens next!!! Aaah, I’m terrified 🤣

Ahhh I’m so glad you’re enjoying it! I definitely think book one was the weakest of the three, but it’s such a fantastic series… can’t wait to read your review lol.

I’m glad you loved the Dungeon Crawler Carl book so much. I hope the author doesn’t go on to devastate you down the line though 😬 I hope you love the sequel to The Jasmine Throne even more than book one. I hope the romance grows on you too 🤞It’ll be interesting to see how you find Enchantra given your experience with book one. I hope you manage to get into A Master Of Djinn if you decide to continue it too. I hope you enjoy your next buddy read too 🥰

Thanks Charlotte! I honestly feel like pain will be inevitable with the DCC books. The stakes are only getting higher and there’s so much more to lose now that we’ve made it this far in the dungeon! I just hope that the devastation will not be so epic that I can’t function, haha (sorry, talk about dramatic)! 🤣 Also, I can already say that Oleander Sword is hitting so much harder than Jasmine Throne for me! I’m still not entirely keen on the romance but everything else, including the pacing, is awesome. I hope you’re enjoying your reads as well and happy reading 🙂

Well I hope it ends up being a good kind of devastation then 😂 if that makes any sense. It’s always good to know a book can have that level of impact on you at least. Yay that’s wonderful to hear. It’s a shame the romance isn’t quite there still but otherwise it sounds wonderful 🥰 thank you.

Why is everyone ahead of me in the Dungeon Crawler Carl series?! *flips table* That’s it. I’m telling my bosses I need a couple weeks off to be able to read a couple thousand pages and catch up. xD I’m glad to see that you’re still enjoying the series, though!
