#WWWWednesday: 28 May 2025

Hello, hello and welcome back to another episode of WWW Wednesday, a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking On A World of Words, which means I’ll be answering these questions:

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?

To say that I’ve tried to keep myself as occupied as possible in the past week would be an understatement. I read most of these books over the weekend as I tried not to think about my doggo in the pet hospital.

Say Nothing: A True Story of Murder and Memory in Northern Ireland by Patrick Radden Keefe ★★★★½
This was powerful, heartbreaking, and brilliantly written. I appreciated how Keefe took this piece of history and shared it through people who were heavily involved in it, not just through facts. It made for a fascinating story but also a very digestible read. Highly recommended if you’re curious about The Troubles and want to learn more.

The Lady Who Knew Too Much (Agents of Desire #1) by Alyson Chase ★★★☆☆
I don’t know how this got on my Kindle but it fit the prompt for a reading challenge and it made for a quick and easy one-sitting binge. If you like unconventional and headstrong FMCs and surly brutish looking MMCs who can’t help but be infatuated with his charge, chances are you’ll like this protector romance.

The Woman Behind the Mask (Agents of Desire #2) by Alyson Chase ★★★★½
I enjoyed this sequel much more than the first. It’s set in the same agency as the first but follows entirely different characters who we don’t meet in book one. I liked how the MMC is working class and the FMC is from the ton, especially since it’s usually the opposite. This was a fun & steamy romance that mixed well with the mystery plot!

Desire in Disguise (Agents of Desire #0.5) by Alyson Chase ★★★★½
This was a 50 pg. prequel to the series and oh, I really hope that Chase gifts us with Wil’s story. I loved him from the first book and I’m so curious to learn more about him. This leaned more on the erotic side of romance, but holy granola, the chemistry was FIRE, the banter was great, and the angst was *chefs kiss*! 😍

The Library of the Unwritten (Hell’s Library #1) by A. J. Hackwith ★★★★☆
This book is written for those who love breathing, reading, and talking about books. It has such an incredibly unique premise and, notwithstanding a few lulls in the middle, it delivers entirely with high stakes adventure, fast paced action, and a compelling storyline and cast of characters. I loved it!

I’ve got quite a few reads on at the minute. I’m trying to stuff my brain with distractions as much as possible, and it’s working to help me out of The Sad Bad Place™️ and gah, I’m so thankful for books as an escape from reality! 🥹

  • Dead Mountain13% ⇢Okay, I’ve admittedly not made progress on this yet even though I still want to get through it one sitting. I will get back to it!
  • The Ornithologist’s Field Guide to Love47% ⇢ This is my first Holton and it won’t be my last! I’m finding this combination of historical romance x academia x romantic comedy the perfect soothing remedy for my soul. The plot, writing, and romance are so witty, over-the-top and silly but in the best and most entertaining way! I’m having a blast with these bumbling idiots. 💜
  • Rebel59% ⇢ I mean, it’s Ms. Bev. She’s giving me an education while I’m swooning over the sexy & powerful MMC, and rooting for the brave big-hearted FMC. It’s pretty heartbreaking to read about the racial injustices, especially in the south, but also very illuminating.
  • The Man Who Died Twice ⇢ 47% ⇢ I’m buddy reading this with Leslie and it’s another witty and charming read that I’m enjoying to bits. I love these four of the Thursday Murder Club and it definitely teaches you to not underestimate the oldies. I love the humour, I’m intrigued by the mystery and I’m so invested in these characters. 💜

Let’s see where the mood takes me but these are still some possibilities!

What are you currently reading? I hope you’re enjoying whatever book you’ve picked up, friends!

  1. I understand that you would want to keep your mind busy. Hugs to you, Dini. I hope you enjoy your upcoming reads, whatever you choose next. I am not getting much read this week due to holiday, so am still working on Olive Kitteridge.

  3. I’m sorry about your doggo!! 😦

Glad you’re liking The Ornithologist’s Field Guide to Love. I bought that book after I had my wisdom teeth taken out as a consolation gift to myself haha. Still haven’t read it yet, but I did like her book, The League of Gentlewomen Witches.

  4. I hope that your books continue to work their magic and lift your mind out of reality even if only for a short while. I think that The Man who Died Twice is a good book for that sort of escapism. .
